Hi...have posted in family planning as well... Would like some advice & recommendations on buying bulk pregnancy test strips please?

They are quite sensitive and will save you a fortune if you are ttc and curious. Do avoid early testing though.
Also bear in mind you'll never fully trust the result. I have a clearblue in the cupboard in the event of a cheapies bfp. I expect I'll do a few about 7 cheapies before checking with the cb.

Home Health website. Ultra early tests. I got 50 at once. I do warn you that this is the way madness lies though! At the same time I ordered 100 ovulation tests. I am pregnant though.

Your best bet is the strip tests, 10miu sensitivity. When you do get an early bfp it can be very very faint at first and of course there is the dreaded risk of evap lines. They do work from 9-10dpo but at 12 dpo you should get a more reliable result that you don't have to squint at.

Just wanted to add I too have used the cheap ones from Amazon, then kept the expensive ones for when I got a faint line. Even splashed out on a fancy digital one, just to make extra sure ;0). I brought the cheap ovulation sticks too, seemed to work just fine. Good Luck, x

wifey6 · 09/11/2011 17:15

Thank you glitterbob....I knew if I didn't order them I would splash out on an expensive one...days before I could test anyway...so would be a waste! So I won't test now til these arrive in the post!

glitterbob · 09/11/2011 18:58

No problems. Wishing you lots of luck and not much need to use them for long! x

AllIWant85 · 10/11/2011 07:45

Ive just received some of these yesterday, tested on fmu today and there is a faint line, and I really mean feint. The naked eye can see it but my camera cant pick it up very well. This came up within the 5 minute window. How reliable are these?if it's that feint now it's probably not worth doing a cb one yet it it?

What are evap lines? Is that when you leave it longer than the stated timeframe?

I am so tempted to run into my neighbours (dh has left for work already) and get the neighbour to confirm that there is a line!! Seeing as no-one knows we are ttc though maybe that isn't the best idea!!

wifey6 · 10/11/2011 08:24

Good luck alliwant85....keep us posted!

An evap line tends to be more off-whitish than coloured. And appears when the test dries out.

If your line is pink then that is better news. The lines do take a few minutes when you use the tests early. A cb one might be a waste of cash at the moment, I would personally wait two days, do another cheap one, and if your line is definitely pink then, crack open the posh tests. Or if you are impatient get a First Response early result test. I find they give a positive the same day as the cheapies.

good luck!

AllIWant85 · 10/11/2011 08:44

Thank you for your responses, it is like a feint pink colour. Have never used these tests before and so wasn't entirely sure.

I went and stood in my garden and I could see the line clearer in natural light.

I guess I now have a long 48 hour wait until Saturday morning, think I may have gone mad by then!!

AllIWant85 · 10/11/2011 08:47

*faint even. Spelling is not my strong point fitst thing in the morning!

HowOfShands · 10/11/2011 08:47

Clearblue have done a bang up marketing job, I'll give them that. Nowt wrong with cheapie test strips at all, they show up hcg, are cheap, sensitive and reliable and STILL everybody gets a cb digi to confirm. Madness.

KatAndKit · 10/11/2011 08:58

It's pink! You are pregnant! Congratulations :)

It is too true that you do NOT need a cb digi to confirm, and they are an evil marketing ploy. Especially the way that now they make us feel like we need to do at least three of them so we can see the weeks have gone up! But there is nothing like seeing the word "pregnant" on a screen in front of you.

wifey6 · 10/11/2011 09:02

Congratulations alliwant85!!!!!!

AllIWant85 · 10/11/2011 09:04

With me it's a case of I need someone to tell me I'm pregnant to believe them. The pink line doesn't compare to the word 'pregnant'. If there was an internet cheapy digital test I'd believe that, the only company that I know of though that does a digital test is cb.
Are there other makes?

KatAndKit · 10/11/2011 09:06

The own-brands have digis (superdrug, boots etc) but they are less sensitive than the cheapie strips so better to wait until the time your period would have been due.
In the meantime if you have plenty of cheapies, do some more tomorrow morning if you want. They are so cheap there is no harm on peeing on as many as you like!

wifey6 · 10/11/2011 09:07

I would/ will be searching amazon & eBay to see if there are alternatives to the cb digi. Worth a try. I do see what you mean... I did a cheaply with my DS...next morning.. A cb...3 days later a cb digi! Madness!

OP posts:
KatAndKit · 10/11/2011 09:14

This time around I think I got through:

A cheapy to get the bfp
Another cheapy a few hours later as first line almost invisible
More cheapies. including one I dipped in orange juice so that I could tell the difference between a faint bfp and an evap line
A twin pack of First response and a twin pack of Superdrug tests (the superdrug non-digis are very very good)
Some more cheapies to see if the line was getting better.
A twin pack of cb digis.
My last couple of cheapies
Another digi due to panic over the misleading weeks thingy on the previous one.

I am most definitely pregnant! And the first cheapie could have told me that without me needing to do all the rest of the tests. But what can I say? It is so hard to believe it at first!

wifey6 · 10/11/2011 09:19

Congrats katandkit....how far along are you? I have to wait til my cheapies arrive!

OP posts:
KatAndKit · 10/11/2011 09:22

18 weeks. I did all of those tests by 5 weeks 1 day Blush

wifey6 · 10/11/2011 09:34

Your right though...it's hard to believe so you keep doing them for reassurance! X
