Did clomid cd5-9 work better for you than cd2-6?

Hello have been taking clomid cd2-6, had a chemical 2nd month (June), but nothing since, have upped dosage to 100mg and still nothing, took a break last month, still ovulated but still bfn, i'm 40 so appreciate its more of a lottery of landing a good egg!

I read that taking clomid later gives you a better quality egg rather than quantity cd2-6, and i wonder if i should try that? will speak to doc tomorrow, but also thinking of trying 150mg? am i crazy? are there any other options? based on my age, tests results, scans and disastrous ivf I am pretty sure I'm not risking multiples!!

My only worry is i have short af's about 2-3 days if that matters?? thoughts/ experiences anyone? thanks so much
