Obviously not all the month but in the weeks just before your period is due do you avoid peanuts/pate/alcohol etc just in case you might be a week or 2 pregnant?

No I never did, but two of my three have multiple allergies so maybe there's a clue?

is there much point? in the early months before the placenta takes over the embryo has no real contact with the mother's circulation, anyway (or so I thought?).

kitegirl · 31/12/2005 15:38

nope - I am eating and drinking whatever I want. BIL who is a dr said there's no point and a long abstinence will follow anyway!

here's hoping that tonight will be the last time I get drunk for a while....

You should be careful with washing fruit and veg, as a toxoplasmosis infection in the period before conceiving can still be harmful to the baby.

thanks all - that's all quite useful. And I hadn't realised that about the embryo and placenta before. I keep being careful in the last 2 weeks but have become bored of being so careful only to be met with af!
