Smear test when possibly pregnant, not enough time for test

DH and I had an 'accident' this weekend on day 16 of my cycle. I have an upcoming smear in 2 weeks time. I think this will be too early to get a clear result on a pregnancy test, and don't want to risk any harm if we have conceived. I have already had to postpone the smear once. I also have a minor op coming up in 3 weeks which requires anaesthetic which I am also concerned about.
Do I postpone these 2 procedures 'just in case' or do I go ahead and assume I'm not going to get a positive result?
DH would not be happy with a 2 line test tbh but I couldn't terminate, it's not in me, and we would find a way to cope.

i would pospone the smear test just in case, but not the op, they should give you a pg test at teh pre op about a week before (they always have with me anyway) and as waiting lists for ops are so long i wouldnt want to postpone untill the last minute (and this is actually what i did when i concieved dd by 'mistake' (the op was to find out why i was having recurrant mc!))

You can put back the smear no problem. If you tell them you might be pregnant they would probably do a test first. As for the minor op ring them and explain and they will want you to have a test first, it is usually something they ask about anyway

Will 3 weeks be long enough for test to be reliable?

14 days after ovulation usually gives you a reliable result. Three weeks almost certainly should.

this suggest not to go if you might be pregnant. I'm sure my practice nurse said it should be mid cycle.

Thank you. I'll call and speak to the nurse to postpone the smear, and hopefully I'll know one way or the other in time for the op .x

Yesterday I had an almost passing out moment, when I was already sitting down. I'm not prone to those kind of things generally. And this morning, I felt so exhausted I couldn't drag myself out of bed after almost 9 hours sleep to get up when my DC, DH had to play with DC until I could actually get up! I'm not generally a lazy person, and just felt totally drained. I'm really trying not to get my hopes up for the result, but it's very hard, and I haven't got sore boobs yet, which was the most prominent sign last time. Counting down the days until the test! I very much need peace of mind and to know whether my 'symptoms' are pure coincidence or not.
