Struggling after previous straightforward conceptions

Hi there
I'm just after a bit of reassurance please. I don't want to seem insensitive to those who are struggling for a first, but things aren't going according to plan, and I was wondering about others' experiences.

We've been trying for over 6 months now, whereas DSs 1, 2 and 3 only took 1, 2 and 2 months respectively.

There were 2 things I was particularly wondering about. Firstly, I'm trying to lose weight. Not massively, kind of aiming for a pound a week to get from more than 10 stone to less than 10 stone. Might that be impairing things?

Also, my husband spent a month in intensive care with swine flu 2 years ago (today!) and I was wondering if that might have impaired him.

Any suggestions? Obviously I'm aware I'm very fortunate to have the ones I've got, but I'm still upset that we haven't magicked up the 4th I always thought I'd have to go with them.

Hi I'm faith.
Can I ask how old you are? If you're over 35 then 6 months ttc would warrant a trip to your GP. Weight wise, how tell are you? 10 stone isn't massively heavy.
Sorry to hear your hubby was ill. Generally sperm count is only affected by ill health for a few months, so after two years it's not likely to be that.
Does that answer some of your questions?

Thanks Faith. I'm 34. DS3 is only 18m, so last time we were ttc was only 2 years ago. I don't really want to go to the GP - doesn't seem like a very good use of nhs resources when I've already got 3.

I'm 5'4. As I said, not trying to lose loads of weight, just the wobble.

Thanks for your reassurance re sperm count. He has no other last side effects from his illness (astonishingly) so I would have been surprised.

Blimey, I'm 5'4" and am just under 13 stone Confused. You're a healthy weight for your height.
It may be tough since you got pregnant so fast before but the reality is at under 35 you're stats still suggest you have an 80% chance of conceiving within a year. If it hasn't happened within a year, then is the time to go to your GP. In the mean time, I suggest you consider joining a nice thread here for support. If you want optimism, go to the brooking thread or the BESH thread though for that you will need to complete a questionnaire

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for them, whatever they mean!

One is always something like 'brooking no argument for positive pee sticks'. That one is basically a positive attitude, 'I'm going to get pregnant this month'. They are gorgeous, gorgeous ladies.
The BESH crew 'oh little town of BESHlehem' are as a rule 30 somethings, rather quirky sense of humour. Have a lurk and see what you think!
