Can you conceive on the day you ovulate?

So, I tend to ov on cd16 which was Saturday. I took my temp first thing and it was still low. I then BDd that night and the following morning my temp was high. So fertility-friend put me as oving on the Saturday.

So can you still conceive on the day you ov or do you need to BD before?

I think sex two (?) days before and 12-24 hours after ovulation is the window. Something about sperm lasting longer so better to do it before you ovulate. The egg dies quickly so you only have a max of 24 hours once egg is released.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will give a better answer.

Conception (ie sperm meeting egg) always happens within a day of ovulation. So yes, you can conceive on the day of ovulation.

your question is about when you can have sex in order for the conception to happen. You can have sex on the day of ovulation but that is your last chance day. The three days before ovulation are also very good days to have sex.
It sounds like you have got there just in time. Good luck!

Thank you both for this. Had an early mc 2 months ago and then last month a bizarre 3 week cycle. So I'm not getting my hopes up. It would be good just to have a normal cycle!

Thanks again.

Good luck Cakes. my cycle went all funny after my MMC but only took three cycles to conceive again. Fingers crossed for you!

Thank you Iggly, I don't mind to be honest as the plan was to properly start trying in January (it would make things slightly easier financially as DD1 would be over the age, in June next year, where we can get assistance with Childcare) so it would just be a bonus really if it happened now.

I just wish I could relax about it though! It took 18 months to convince DH even to have another baby so now that he's in agreement, I'm thinking about it constantly, even though we agreed we would just have fun trying instead of properly TTC... always the way... Smile

Homemadecakes you sound a lot like me. DS is 6 and it has taken about 4 years to convince my dh to try for another. That was mid September and it is all I think about. I spend hours online reading other people's stories and tips etc on the hows and whens.
Really thought this month was the month as af was 2 days late but alas it made an appearance this morning.
Good luck

Thanks Saxony, you too! It's amazing how much it takes over your life...
