Hello - after a while of TTC with nothing but a chemical pregnancy I have purchased myself a shiny new CBFM in the hope it will make things a bit less stressful. I was an advocate of just having SWI everyother day but in reality that it quite a lot for me and DH and the poor thing works very long hours so not always possible.

I'm starting this thread for anyone else who's started TTC using the CBFM in the hope we can give eachother a little support etc.....

I'm on day 5 today so think i have to start POAS tomorrow......

Anyone out there who wants to join the journey?!!

a BFP would be the most amazing christmas present ever!

I wish every 2ww was the run up to christmas - it's much easier to be happy!

I had my first peak this morning! On day 15 after only 2 days of peak on day 13 and 14. Exciting!

Chocchip88 · 11/12/2011 13:11

Secret doesn't look like it will happen this month then, but apparently quite common so as long as you're SWI throughout your highs hopefully you'll have covered the right time anyway. Think it will keep asking you to POAS until all 20 are used now, annoying!

Hi

This is my first cycle using CBFM and my 2nd cycle charting. I have very erratic periods and not sure really what my body is doing Confused.

The monitor was 2nd hand but removed batteries and reset etc but now I am very confused. I had highs on CD11 & 12; Peaks on CD13 & 14; high on CD15 and back to lows, however my charting hasn't detected ovulation at all. There have been days when I haven't done temp in correct time slot (sometimes 1/2 hour out) but not sure whether that would impact on chart this much?

Your views appreciated!! :)

The peaks mean you will oulate 24-48hrs later, so you may not have ov'd until CD15 so it will be too soon for FF to show it (3 days of higher temps). If you want you can change the interpreatation method to monitor and it will recognise it as soon as you get peaks.

I'm not sure if I believe the peak I got today, CP isn't fertile and no fertile CM, and a neg opk this afternoon. It does say in the cloimid instructions not to test too soon as you can get a false positive and I'm wondering if that's what's happened.

If it detected the tail end of my peak this morning that would explain the negative OPK this afternoon, but surely I wouldn't have already ov'd to explain the other signs???

Hi CBFM arrived this week. Here's my first idiot question (there will be many more!) it's a fundamental question : first day of cycle = first day of AF in full flow I.e not spotting is that correct?
You're starting to get an insight as to one of the reasons why we've not conceived yet Wink

Zara1984 · 13/12/2011 13:51

Welcome Atomant - yes it's very exciting to get the shiny new CBFM!! It's my first cycle using it, day 3 POAS for me today .

I had the same question re Day 1 of cycle. As far as I can tell from searches on MN threads, and by reading the manual carefully:

  • if AF starts in the night/before your CBFM setting time (eg 8am), then that day is day 1.
  • if AF starts after your CBFM setting time, then TOMORROW MORNING you set as Day 1. This is what I did - my AF started at about morning tea time, and my CBFM setting time was going to be 8am. I therefore set the following day as Day 1 on the monitor.

I would probably count spotting as the start of flow, and start my time calculations from then, taking into account the above. The CBFM will ask for first stick on Day 6, and after that it's reading the hormones in your wee so you're fine!

Hope that helps... please correct me if I'm wrong, more experienced users!

iloveberries · 13/12/2011 19:33

i would do that too zara......

Hello atomant nice to have you and hope the CBFM brings lots of luck for you!

AF arrived yesterday, so back to round two with the CBFM and cycle 6 of TTC :(

Anyone found any bargain stick deals? Got a pack of 20 for £17 from Amazon but thinking there must be better deals out there?! :)

louloubellamozzarella · 14/12/2011 10:20

P.s. Zara I think you're right - that's what I've done anyway!

I bought 40 off of amazon for £30 and think that is probably the best deal as well - totally ridiculous prices in Boots

This is my first month with CBFM, my second month of BBT charting (ist month didn't appear to ovulate....) I already have a son, had MMC and ERPC last year and my periods are very erratic some cycles only 19 / 20 days long....

AFM - was really surprised to receive a letter from GP asking to make appointment with nurse to go over basic details as he is processing fertility referral so semi take back whinging about said GP at beginning of November!!!

My charts don't appear to be consistent so maybe you ladies may be able to shed some light as to whether this is normal or not

According to CBFM I had highs on CD11/12, Peaks on CD 13/14, High on CD15 and Low on CD16. FF has me ovulating on CD15 so now I am 5DPO. With my erratic cycles this months readings just seem too textbook perfect...

Here is my chart

Hello everyone,

I'm on CD16 of my first cycle CBFM and I went directly to a peak today with no high readings Xmas Confused. We DTD immediately (i.e. at 7am this morning) even though I'd already had my shower and it was going to make us both late for work. Surely I deserve to be updiffed for that kind of commitment to the cause.

I'm kind of surprised that I didn't get any highs. I wonder if it's something to do with being a bit older (37) so my window of fertility is short???

Anyway, will be DTD again tonight. By the way, I had sharp pains in one side most of today. I know I shouldn't try to ss for ovulation but could this be ovulation cramping or is it too soon after my peak?

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/12/2011 21:16

That is impressive commitment to the cause Dee!

First peak today - very exciting!

iloveberries · 15/12/2011 06:58

dee - sounds like ov cramping to me! gooooo for it!!

Ladies - I'm going to bow out of the threads for a while as i just need to switch off for a while but thanks for all the chats, advice and support.

wishing you every good luck wish possible for your BFP and healthy baby!

I have a question if you don't mind. This is my 1st month using the CBFM. Ive had my high, peak, high and now back to low. The monitor is still telling me to test. I can't find anything in the instruction booklet about what happens after you've had your peak and you're in the waiting period. Should I still be switching it on? How long does it tell you to test for after your peak?

Thanks ladies

Confused Jno! Smile

Chocchip88 · 15/12/2011 08:28

Hi JNO it will keep asking you to test until you've used 10 or 20 sticks. Completely pointless really! I stopped doing it as was bored of peeing on all those sticks by then! I think keep turning it on every morning though, I just switched it off again when it asked for a stick.

Atomant · 15/12/2011 21:41

Thanks ladies, very helpful.

nearlymumofone · 18/12/2011 07:23

Well that was my first CBFM cycle and it appears I have a (very early) BFP. Can't quite believe it.

Anyway, there were a few things I did differently this month, that may or may not of helped, I thought I'd post it as I always liked reading 'tips' of people that had BFPs!

  • Firstly month before last I pretty much came off MN- I was becoming obsessed with MN, was on here all the time and I was using MN to fuel my obsession. A ban helped me to chill out.
  • This month we dtd every 3 days- when I got pg with ds that month we'd only dtd twice as opposed to 6/7 months previously swi eod. So i thought I'd give that a go, so other than the time i got a peak on the CBFM when we dtd the first peak and subsequant high, we were pretty slack with dtd.
  • I drank and smoked. I went out and rather than absteining as I was ttc, I had a good few drinks instead.

I think that's it really. And this month. I have NO symptoms, real or imagined.

Anyway- I don't know if CBFM worked for me, might be a coincidence but it could have been the relief of knowing I was ovulating that made me relax and maybe that worked?

Anyway, I just wanted to help if I could.

Good luck everyone. I hope there's a string of festive BFPs on here now.

nearlymumofone · 18/12/2011 07:24

sorry in my previous post- I meant to say I was becoming obsessed with ttc not becoming obsessed with MN!!

JNO18 · 18/12/2011 08:56

Congratulations in your bfp!! And thanks for the tips too. I also like reading what people have and haven't done.

I'm 7 dpo and have quite sore boobs. Trying not to read too much into it, 7 days until I can find out

Chocchip88 · 18/12/2011 09:06

Congrats nearlymumofone, v exciting!

crystaltea36 · 18/12/2011 11:46

Hi everyone, so as you know my cbfm broke and is currently being fixed, so I just guessed this month and we only managed to SWI twice so had no hope or so I thought, I've just got a BFP!! Am pretty scared now but also so happy, thanks for all your support and baby dust to you all!! xxx

DeeLite · 18/12/2011 12:53

Wow, congratulations nearlymum and crystalea. That's brilliant news. nearlymum how many DPO are you as we were testing around the same time a couple of months ago although my cycles have gotten a bit longer in the meantime. I'm only about 3 DPO so it's still a bit early for me to ss not that that will stop me. Great news anyway and thanks for the lowdown on what was different this month. Also very relieved to hear that you've had a few drinks as I'm finding it impossible to be abstemious around Christmas.
