Hello - after a while of TTC with nothing but a chemical pregnancy I have purchased myself a shiny new CBFM in the hope it will make things a bit less stressful. I was an advocate of just having SWI everyother day but in reality that it quite a lot for me and DH and the poor thing works very long hours so not always possible.

I'm starting this thread for anyone else who's started TTC using the CBFM in the hope we can give eachother a little support etc.....

I'm on day 5 today so think i have to start POAS tomorrow......

Anyone out there who wants to join the journey?!!

yes, secret i am finding that the CBFM is giving me reassurance that i am ovving as i have seen the egg both months, BUT, this month is was on CD 15 so i guess the latest i could OV would be CD17 which is a lot earlier than ever before from my charting of temp, CM etc.
Since before CBFM we have been DTD EOD all cycle and been exhausted. DTD last night, and night before and told DH he had to put out tonight and then his work was done (albeit communicated in a nicer way than that!) He couldn't believe he was only 'required' for 3 shags. bless him i think he was secretly pleased as he loves his sleep!!!
God it's hard when you want it so bad isn't it!

Hi girls, I'm after a bit of advice please. I have been debating whether to invest in a CBFM for a while now. I have extremley irregular cycles and not sure if it would work for me. My last 4 cycles have been 29, 43, 39 and 33 days long. The only information I can find suggests that you should have cycles between 21-42 days long. I've tracked 10 cycles and only twice gone over the 42 day mark.

I have one DD so know that I do (did) ovulate but I have no idea when. I just don't have the energy to SWI every day through a cycle (especially as my cycles tend to be long) and don't think the charting route is for me.

Do you think it would be worth me investing in a CBFM or should I just use opks for a while to see if I can gain any information from that? Do CBFM work with irregular cycles?

Thanks in advance and good luck to you all. May you all have a BFP very soon.

Chocchip88 · 06/12/2011 15:39

eliza I was in a similar situation to you, irregular cycles and not enough energy to SWI often enough to cover all bases! Using the bonkometer we managed to make sure we dtd at the right time. It took the guessing out of it for us.
And.....and.....I think I may have just got my BFP!

So yes! I would def recommend it to someone with irregular cycles Grin

Elizadoesdolittle · 06/12/2011 17:20

Chocchip, that's fantastic news. Huge congratulations. I will have to treat myself to one as a Christmas present. I will join this thread when I am up and running.

MrsHerculePoirot (33), DD aged 23 months, TTC 11 months, cycle 1 of CBFM, AF due 3rd Dec (I think!
Chocchip88 - DS 12 months. TTC for 3 months 1st month on CBFM. AF due 9/10 Dec - possibly
Floordrobe (26) TTC#1 3 cycles, 1st cbfm cycle, AF due Dec 12ish
Maisie55 (32) DS 18mths TTC 3 cycles, cycle 1 of CBFM. AF due 16 Dec
hettyturner (29) DD 18mths TTC 6 cycles, cycle 1 of CBFM AF due anyones guess
Nearlymumofone (34) DS 15 months TTC 3 months awaiting cycle 1 of CBFM
1sttimeBlondie (34) TTC no 1 TTC 4 cycles, cycle 2 of CBFM AF due 12 Dec
Loulou (27) TTC #1, TTC 4 cycles, cycle 1 of CBFM, AF due 13 Dec
DeeLite (37) TTC #2, TTC 4 cycles, cycle 1 of CBFM, AF due 31 Dec

So, my DH bought us a CBFM this month. I am a bit dubious because I am pretty clear on when I ovulate anyway from consistent OPKs, BBT and CM. Anyway, I'll give it a go but I usually ovulate on CD 20 of a 31 day cycle. Can't I just hold off testing until CD12 so as to try to get away with 10 sticks instead of 20?

Anyway, good luck chocchip. Would be a great omen to see a BFP so soon after joining. No pressure now. Grin

Chocchip88 · 07/12/2011 07:39

Good morning!
Clears throat and shuffles feet awkwardly....
Well....it's def a BFP! So excited! After only 1 cycle with the CBFM -I heart the
Bonkometer.
I am sure they will be many more festive BFPs to come. Good luck!

AuntieDoris · 07/12/2011 08:01

Congratulations Chocco.

I wish my TTC journey had been improved by the CBFM. Sadly it seems to have made bugger all of a difference and I am losing hope!

Congrats chocchip! delighted for you. Hope i can join you in bringing luck to this thread!!

hi there secret, How long are your cycles usually? How long have you been using CBFM and what's your usual pattern with it?

doris you sound sad. Want to get it off your chest?

deelite welcome!!! I was kind of in the same boat as you as before CBFM i knew we were doing it at the right time but i just like the reassurance that CBFM gives. Hope it works for you.

I had 2nd peak yesterday but we didn't manage it. Did it on the last high and first peak so i'm hoping if we do it again tonight (last high) that should be enough??? All this trying is just gutting isn't it?

iloveberries · 07/12/2011 09:43

p.s. chochip were you using early tests? i noticed from the stats your AF's not due for a while?

I am just fed up. Have been TTC for 15 months and we seem to be getting nowhere. Had basic blood and semenology done at 6 months and all looked fine but now we have moved back to Guernsey and there is a 5 month wait for an initial appointment at the fertility specialists. i just feel so sad about everything at the moment that it all seems a little overwhelming at times.

It feels like everyone I know gets pregnant as soon as they take their knickers off. My younger sister has two lovely children but being with them is so painful sometimes.

TTC is generally shitty at the moment!

Chocchip88 · 07/12/2011 11:35

berries I think AF is/was due tomorrow or Friday, my cycle length does vary but think my LP is 14 days. I was going to buy the First Response test but when I saw the price difference between them and Tesco own I went for Tesco Blush I'm sure I read somewhere that they will detect q low HCG levels.

With regard to the sticks and lines I def had 2 lines on my first peak, but I'm sure I had 2 lines earlier on and most of my sticks had no lines at all. V confusing!

iloveberries · 07/12/2011 12:42

oh, interesting that tesco picked up early. i have a couple four of tesco tests under my bed! along with 2 internet cheapies

I def had 2 lines on first peak too. Send me luck chocchip!!!!

doris that sounds totally shite. HUGS. ARe you TTC number 1? I haven't read it but lots of people seem to talk about 'Taking charge of your fertility' by toni weschler. i don't know if that could help you? Sorry i don't know what to suggest but feel free to rant anytime!

Yep TTC number 1. Have read that book. Didn't tell me much that Fertility Friend didn't.

Some days are easier than others. Today is a rubbish day.

Chocchip88 · 07/12/2011 13:00

Oh doris I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. Apparently it takes about a year on average for someone in their early 30s to fall pregnant so half of those people take longer than a year, there are probably lots of people you know that are in your position but you just don't know about it.

I hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

lettingitallgonow · 07/12/2011 15:33

Congratulations chocco that's fab news. Bring good news to everyone :)

Sorry you're feeling horrid doris... We're TTC #2 and have been for a year now, it's so depressing and soul destroying and we already have 1... SWI can be a real downer too, takes all the fun out of things.

nearlymumofone · 07/12/2011 21:22

Congrats Choc! Well done you! Do you think the bonkometer helped or just coincidence?

Did you have any symtoms as we're on the subject?

HettyTurner · 07/12/2011 21:25

Congratulations Chocchip! Xmas Grin

Doris it took us 2 years to concieve our DD. I know exactly how you feel, have you had a break at all? I gave up after being given a perscription for clomid and had a few weeks off until AF arrived so I could take it. AF never did arrive...

I am on CD 5 and got one more day of clomid to take and then I am praying that I ov and get a peak this month. I'm more determined than ever!

HettyTurner · 07/12/2011 21:35
