Ovulation and no AF????

Sorry if I am massively thick about basic biology but here goes.....

Can you be ovulating without having AF? I am BF my dd (now 9 months) and have had lots of ovulation type mucus over the last few weeks but no AF. What is going on? Could i be ovulating but not making a lining? Presumably getting pg isn't an option as there would be nowhere for the baby to implant.

Does anyone have any idea what is happening or is a new year trip to the Drs in order? I would like to start trying for no 2 in Jan and would have liked a period first (for dating purposes only!!!) If I am not even ovulating then that's more of a worry. Only on 2 bf a day (with a bit more over the hols planned as not at work). Should I stop that with a view to getting pg again?

Any advice gratefully received. TIA x

Silkcut - My friend was having problems ttc, then her periods stopped. She did hundreds of pg tests but were all negative. She missed 4 periods when she finally got a positive result..... but a scan revealed she was only 7wks pg.... meaning she conceived whilst her periods had stopped!

Wouldn't you have to ovulate before you got a period anyway?
I wouldn't worry about stopping bf just for getting pregnant if the bf is still convenient. Also periods seem to have a mind of their own whether bfing or not!
Just get bonking!!!

OMG this could be me. I've had ovulation type mucous 3wks ago and no AF or BFP! I also I'm BF my dd who is 8 1/2 months although I feed more often than 2x daily. If anyone can help us pls do!

Yup, you can ovulate and not have periods, I do!

I dont have periods but have had 2 children

(although I had a period both last month and this month maybe I am going to have them as normal from now on!)

You are not ovulating if you are not having periods.

It is quite possible to have periods without ovulating; every woman has the occasional anovulatory cycle.
