I'm at the verrry beginning of my 2ww and it's already driving me crazy - why can't I think about anything else??

OP posts:
Whysoserious · 12/10/2011 11:13

I will be! Well 24th or 25th. It seems like ages away doesn't it. I hate the 2ww!

How long have you been TTC? I'm just on cycle 2 so not holding out too much hope although have used CBFM.

fredandginger · 12/10/2011 11:54

Snap, cycle 2 & CBFM - two weeks seems like two years at the moment. I always get carried away with the fantasy of it too. If we get pregnant now, we'd have our 12 weeks a few days before Christmas (ahhh, what a nice pressie for the grandparents) and due date of 2 July (I'm a nutcase, I know!)

OP posts:
Whysoserious · 12/10/2011 12:26

I know I thought exactly the same about telling people at Christmas! How lovely would that be Smile

Did you use CBFM last month? This is my first month of using it and had my peaks yesterday and the day before. We have done the deed a lot less this month - last month without CBFM we just went for it constantly for 2 weeks. I was so naive to think it would be that easy but it gave me a huge reality check when AF came.

Are you doing anything different in the 2ww? Eg avoiding foods, not drinking etc? I did last month but this month I'm just going to carry on as normal this month otherwise I'd think I'd go mad Wink

fredandginger · 12/10/2011 13:20

I used it last month, but my husband was away on the crucial dates! Managed to SWI about 6 days before, but obviously that was no good.

I'm not going to avoid anything in the 2ww as that would really send me round the bend. I'm not a big drinker anyway, maybe a glass of wine at the weekend, so I can't see that being much of a problem. My big addiction is tea.

I do have a DS already and went on de-caf for that pregnancy (disgusting stuff, but you do condition yourself to drink it) - so perhaps it's time I weaned myself onto that. Caffeine free Diet Coke may also be a good idea..

Been taking folic acid for all of a week :)

DS was a winter babe, so would love a summer birth now

OP posts:
Whysoserious · 12/10/2011 15:19

How old is your ds? I'm ttc numero uno so all very new to me.

I'm presuming it'll take a while for CBFM to get to know my cycle properly. I'd you use one for your son? How long did it take you if you don't mind me asking?

fredandginger · 12/10/2011 15:34

Didn't use one with DS - decided to think about TTC and got a BFP 3 weeks later. He is nearly 1 year now

Mummyin2012x · 12/10/2011 18:48

Hi guys, I'm on my 2nd month ttc #1, first month we were on hols and didn't know all the crucial dates, this month we are just SWI EOD, I have the ov sticks but they keep not having a smiley face on them :-(
I didn't track my cycle and AF before, so not sure when I'm due, last AF was 27th October. When do u think I should test? It's all so confusing!!

How r u finding cbfm?

Mummyin2012x · 12/10/2011 18:50

Just looked it up, £100?!!!!

Whysoserious · 12/10/2011 19:28

Hi mummyin2012!

You can get it for about £60 on amazon which is what I paid. It is expensive yes but I have quite long cycles so I personally feel it's worth it just to get to know my cycle more.

Fredandginger - wow that was fast moving with DS. Hope you have the same luck this time round!

fredandginger · 13/10/2011 12:43

12 days to go.....yawn. Cannot concentrate. Thinking of baby names and wondering whether I should use my current pushchair and a sling for newbie or buy another travel system for two. I've said it once, I'll say it again. I'm a nutcase.

OP posts:
LittleDragon · 13/10/2011 20:21

I'm on month 4 TTC #2. AF due around the 25th so I'm in if you'll have me.

fredandginger · 13/10/2011 20:37

Hi Little Dragon - how old is your DC? good luck!

OP posts:
LittleDragon · 13/10/2011 20:47

My DS is just turned six however due to mental illness when he was born I ended up giving him up. He now is under a special guardianship order. I still see him and am now in a much better place mentally and with a very supportive partner which was my other problem when DS was born. His father hasn't seen him since he was 16 months old.

I now have a much better life and am much more secure in myself and SS have done a preliminary survey and say I would be able to care for a baby. I went to them for this rather than get pregnant and have all the stress then.

fredandginger · 13/10/2011 20:48

Wow, thank you for sharing Little Dragon - extra extra luck sent your way then, I have my fingers crossed for you :)

OP posts:
LittleDragon · 13/10/2011 20:51

thanks. fx for all in here.

fredandginger · 16/10/2011 15:26

I think I need some suggestions for thinking about something other than phantom symptoms. Anyone?

OP posts:
LittleDragon · 16/10/2011 19:20

I'm do voluntary work 7 days a week and still get ?phantom? symptoms although my boss did turn round and ask if there was something she should know when I went to the loo for the 3rd time in a 6 hour shift today.

Whysoserious · 17/10/2011 00:10

Hello littledragon. Thanks for sharing your story with us. FX for a quick BFP for you!

Fredandginger I am doing some terrible symptom spotting. I must be about 6dpo but my boobs feel tender and I feel a teeny bit crampy. I'm sure it's all in my head though and am looking forward to being kept busy tomorrow to keep my mind off it all.

What symptoms do you have?

fredandginger · 17/10/2011 17:09

Nothing real....similar to you but it's 100% phantom - any tiny little bean floating around in there wouldn't have even stuck yet!

Yawn. The wait is SO tedious. I got my BFP 3 days early last time, so I'm currently deciding which day to test (although I do have 6 tests in the cupboard)

OP posts:
Whysoserious · 17/10/2011 17:49

How many days between ovulation and implantation?

I know what you mean fred - I WANT TO KNOW NOW!! I wish they invented super amazing tests that you could use the day after ovulation. Then there'd be no waiting around and you could just relax until the next month. I went out for lunch on Saturday and really wanted a goats cheese tart but didn't dare just in case. Stupid I know - but if I could have tested last week then I could have either been happy I was pregnant or know I could just get on with it and eat all the goats cheese in the world! Maaaaan I love goat's cheese Smile

I'm not sure when I should test either. In the last 6 months I have had cycles between 32 and 36 days. I am on day 30 today but I know I ovulated on day 23 so surely I must be having a longer cycle this month. I might do a sneaky test on friday I think

fredandginger · 17/10/2011 20:59

Usually around 8 days I think - that's Wed for me - and no doubt I'll convince myself I can FEEL it happen.

I'm still eating as normal Whysoserious - I'd go mad otherwise

Last time, when I got my early BFP, I used first response (for what it's worth!)

OP posts:
witchyhills · 18/10/2011 10:41

This is driving me crazy, I can't think of anything else.
AF due Monday.
I'm not holding out much hope as PMT was raging last night, but then that could have just been DH being annoying!
I also had lower abdominal pain and back pain, but then I got a bit shivery, turns out I had a slight fever, and I would always get that pain with a fever

I ovulated day 11 this month, so a bit earlier than usual
just ordered some of those cheap early tests on amazon. Reviews are a bit varied, but I don't care!

fredandginger · 19/10/2011 10:58

8dpo today....this is taking FOREVER

I'm with you on the crazy, witchyhills

Not sure I can wait until Tuesday, might test on Saturday (although I'm going to a baby shower that afternoon, so maybe I should cling onto the hope in case I get BFN and then hate being at the shower)

Dreamt of BFP last night - a really strong one too.

OP posts:
Whysoserious · 19/10/2011 12:27

I think I'm 8 dpo too (maybe 9) but I have been getting cramps since yesterday so I think af is on her way Sad

If I do get AF today / tomorrow, which is looking very likely, then I would have had a very short luteal phase which will worry me SadSad

Fred did you count your ovulation day as the first peak or second peak in CBFM?

fredandginger · 19/10/2011 12:43

First, so may be slightly out.
Cramp today could be implantation rather than AF? I would consider it encouraging..
