Going it alone with IVF

Hello everyone.
This is my first time onto this site. I am investigating IVF as I have just been told I not only have PCOS, but also completely blocked tubes. As I am now 36 yo and still single, time is against me. As my big dream in life is to be a Mum, I am about to embark on IVF alone using Donor Sperm. Trying to decide whether to try to find a known donor or use an unknown donor. Does anyone have any exeriences they would like to share?

Not personally, no but wanted to welcome you anyway. I wish you the best, I had my first at 39, my second at 40. i think you should go for whatever you think might work. I made a huge leap to get where I am, and would have gone awol for a while...

I believe that Earlybird has done something similar - it might be worth searching on this board, and possibly CATing her ("Contact another talker" - on the "useful stuff" menu above).

The one problem with CAT t present is a lot of users are using their Christmas names (ie have changed names for this month) - no idea whether Earlybird has done this.

Good luck - I have 2 sons via IVF.

hello Julie and welcome to mumsnet. I haven't had any experience of this, but I was also a late starter - my daughter was born when I was 38.

Just an update from me ..
I started IVF in February this year and was lucky enough to get success on my first cycle. I chose to use an anon donor and was lucky enough to get success with Twins. They are due on 07 Dec 06.

Fantastic news! We all dream that it will work first time. I'm in my first cycle with the follicles not looking good, so am down right now. Christmas babies ... how divine!

DelGirl · 12/08/2006 10:56
