irregular cycles and ttc?

Hi, I have been trying to conceive for approx 5 months however am having irregular cycles.

since coming off the pill i've had

34,31,31,28,32 and ??? im now on day 35 of my cycle and still no period.

This is the longest cycle i have had and just cant understand it! Im also very worried that my irregular cycle means i am going to have fertility problems. My friends all have exact 28 day cycles and are never late.

Anyone ever have any experience of this and has it caused fertility problems?

That sounds pretty similar to what I experienced when i was ttc#1. Although I think mine were even more over the place, I fell pg on 6th month. Good luck.

Have you done a test? You might be in luck.

Hi, i have been trying for about 6months and mine are exactly the same, so far since coming off the pill i have had 42,48 and 70 day cycles, currently on day 34 with no sign of ovulation yet, i have been to the doctor and had blood tests, i get the full results on wednesday, may be worth going to the doctor, i found it best to concentrate on the fact my cycles were irregular instead of trying to concieve because they dont usually help with that untill you have been trying 12 months, although the dr does know we are ttc.
have you tried taking your temperature every morning, helps you to know when you are ov'ing.
It is looking like i might have pcos but i won't find out til wednesday.

I'm after advice on this too, I've only had one AF since coming off the pill a year ago, but now I'm on day 39... So annoying. I just don't know what to do and have to keep testing just in case.

My irregular cycle after stopping the pill was due to PCOS. I did however get pg on the 1st cycle but had a miscarriage. (We dtd alot and so luckily caught the egg when it was finally released after about 55 days - didn't know when I was ovulating then.) I only got diagnosed with PCOS after having an internal scan for the miscarriage. In terms of blood tests all of my test were normal. However, I did have problems with my skin and blood pressure although no doctor ever linked these issues. My periods were regular before going on the pill so initially they said the irregularity was from stopping the pill and then said it happened after a miscarriage.

Having said that by monitoring by cm, using opks and charting I can quite accurately predict when I am going to O and when I have O'd so I can time it quite well even if I get less chances than other people.

Hey ladies...

I had fairly irregular cycles, nothing too major (31, 29, 30, 29, 31, etc.) and just one month of acupuncture sorted it all out for me. I have been having it regularly since and have had a 28 day cycle every month now since April.
My PMS is also calming down too... Worth a try Smile

Thanks for that angel, maybe be worth a try, only thing is im petrified of needles!! had to have numbing cream to have my blood tests! im such a wimp!! :)

They are so thin 1st you don't feel them, honest.
They use a guide tube that applies pressure to the skin first and so you don't actually feel the needle insert - very clever! Highly recommend it... But always find a British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) accredited practitioner xx

I've been TTCing since Jan and still had no luck,

My cycles have been a range of 30,35,49, all the way up to 92 days!!!! -ridiculous.

Had blood tests before i started TTCing, was told there was no abnormalities to any of my hormones. Currently on CD 41!! hehehe

I think they missed something with regards to the blood tests; these need to be redone. They should have done a Day 2 to compare your LH level against that of your FSH level. They could also do an internal ultrasound scan to assess the state of your ovaries to see if they are polycystic.

What blood tests did you have done before ttc?. Hormonal contraception tends to mask any symptoms of underlying problems.

My guess is that with cycles like yours the LH/FSH ratio is awry and ovulation as a result will not happen readily if at all. A common cause of such problems is a condition called polycystic ovaries, another possible one is problems with the thyroid gland.

Do not be fobbed off; your cycle is irregular for a reason.

My cycles have always been very irregular any thing from 28 days to six monthsi have pcos. I have two beautiful boys,I got pregnant with my nearly five year old within a few weeks of trying [ very lucky i know] it took 12 months to concive my 16 month old good luck and dont give up

Myself and my partener have been toying with the idea of going back to the doctors again.... but have sort of decided to wait until the 12 months is up..... Saying that though like i said previously... we've probably been trying 12 months already now anyway.

it's one of those things that i keep putting off because i think i know the answer of PCOS - my mum had an ovarian cyst when she was carrying me.... so it's a possibility that i have them too!

What if anything can the medical professionals do to help a pregnancy on it's way with PCOS!?
