CLOMID first timer....

I can't seem to find any clomid threads that are active, so thought I would start this one.

Currently just finished taking my last tablet (50mg) on my first month of clomid, I'm very excited & nervous at the same time.

So many things going on in my head, no one to really talk to, symptoms are a bitch (but must mean something is working if I have symptoms yeah?!)

has anyone taken clomid without being monitored? My consultant isn't going to scan me to check on follicles, I just have to go back to see her in 3 weeks (not sure what for?)

Really hoping this works!

Hello ladies, can I join this thread? I'm also on one on the infertility board but everyone is having different treatment there so I thought it might be useful to be on a clomid focused one too.

My story is - PCOS - no AF after coming off the pill in August 2011. I started clomid in September. First cycle (50mg) - CD12 scan showed a 16mm follie and 5mm uterine lining, but no ov.
No AF so I went straight onto second cycle (100mg), CD12 scan showed a 16mm and an 18mm follie and 6/7mm lining, still no ov at day 21 blood test.
On day 22 I started my first AF in over a year - that was yesterday - so I'm going to start my third cycle (100mg again) tonight.

The nurse at the clinic told me that because my cycle was so short this month she wants to scan me at CD9 next time instead of CD12 and give me a shot to stimulate ovulation.
I'm a bit concerned about it since (a) my follies weren't exactly massive at CD12 so doubt they'll be anywhere near ov'ing at CD9 and (b) I don't think my lining will be thick enough for implantation that early even if I do ov and DH's sperm finds its way to the egg...

Anyway - that's my back story - sorry for the info overload. I just wanted to chat to others on clomid as this month in particular it seems to be getting me down.

Try not and let it get you down at least they seam to be covering everything to try and get you ovulating so that's good.

There are some lovely people in here we all have different stories but we all on the same journey.

Welcome summer I understand it getting u down I had my first scan on Thursday an I got bad news nothing going on in ovaries an found a cyst so I have to have a month off this time so they can monitor the cyst the girls on hear picked me up an made me think different we r all hear for each other golden has me in stitches with some of her post just keep thinking Hun r time will come an if u ever want a chat we r all hear for u good luck an big hugs xxx annalou how r u getting on Hun what CD r u now xxx

Thanks meluv, such a sweet message. I'm sorry you didn't have any luck with your first scan, how did the doctors know it was a cyst that had grown and not a follicle that was going to ovulate?
Even if you're having some time off make sure you keep dtd regularly as you never know, sometimes clomid can stay in the system for a while..

Hello, Summer and welcome to the Clomid Chicks' thread! What a shame they didn't give you the HCG shot earlier - was there a reason for this? To answer your question to Meluv regarding ovarian cycts, any follicle over 20mm is considered a cyst (I read this on the internet so don't take it as gospel). The HCG injection causes ovulation to occur between 32 and 48 hours later so, in your case, you would get the shot on CD9 and ovulate aound CD11. Lots of women ovukate this early and go on to get pregnant. There are lots of ways to lengthen the luteal phase, so please don't worry unduly. Your first hurdle is to get your follicles to release those eggs and Clomid is definitely the way forward. Good luck on this journey x

Hello, Meluv and everyone else [waves at Annalou, too]. I'm 4DPO and had a beautifully high temp on my chart this morning. I'm fed up of the waiting though....isn't it boring? I'm currently sat on the sofa watching Star Wars Vol 4 whilst studiously ignoring the rancid smell of steaming shit coming from my kitten's litter tray. Surely DP can smell it, too? Lazy bastard.

P.s..Summer, my consultant told me that at 18mm they consider a follicle to be fully mature [hsmile]

Hi meluv I'm on cd12 sick of waiting been doing the ovulation testing but nothing has happened :(

My understanding is that you ovulate 10 days after your last tablet my first tablet was the 18th so I've a few days yet :( (golden is this correct as you are the oracle of knowlage :) )

Annalou, I haven't been told that there is a definite number of days from the last tablet until ovulation. In my case, my last tablet was CD6 and I ovulated on CD15. I had the injection on CD14.

Well hello me girlies use do make me smile am fed up of peeing on sticks now lol lol am not giving up summer am getting in with my bed rocking the neighbours will end up getting an ASBO against me for noise am searching for my gooey egg white too golden .. I got sum OPK off line an 3 out if 4 of them don't work am fuming sent me a load of duds they have annalou don't give up lovely your time will come u will see summer they seen it on my scan an just said its 5cm cyst so I got to stay off clomid this month to c if it goes down if not they will drain it an I will be good to go back on clomid again them it's so hard an frustrating but try not let it get u down I just cum on hear an chat away to the girls an wait for my lil golden to give me all my advise she fab with it all X well girls am off for a shower an then to watch xfactor luv it I do ps golden get ya litter tray done an u may get a reward of ya other half

Golden thanks so much for that info, really helped to set my mind at rest. I don't know why they didn't give me the HCG shot in the first two cycles - guess they wanted to see whether my body would respond on its own. You are so right that ovulating is the first hurdle, I am just impatient for everything to happen at once :) But I know deep down this will be a long journey... anyway, just took my first two pills of cycle 3, let's hope third time's the charm!
4DPO...so...you must have your day 21 bloods coming up soon?

Annalou my nurse told me dtd every other day from CD12 onwards so don't worry too much about what day exactly you'll ov, just get busy :)

Summer, you're very welcome. I'm not the oracle of all things Clomid but I do alot of research and ask lots of questions of my consultant - that's what he's paid £140k a year for, right?

Yes, my CD21 progesterone test is tomorrow. I feel I have definitely ovulated (on CD15) and my fertility friend chart shows the same.

TMI alert: I am seeing white stains in my knickers from the copious amounts of thick, creamy discharge I am releasing. Is there anyone else on here experiencing this or am I the only one past ovulation? I'm 5DPO.

I'm confused I have that really sticky stretchy discharge isn't that a symptom if ovulation? My tummy cranks have stopped :( I hood it's not a bad sign

Annalou, that sounds like EWCM to me! Is it snotty like egg white? Can you stretch it between thumb and forefinger? If so, ovulation is imminent

Hi golden that's what I thought but when I have done the pee on the sticks before I've never had a positive result. It's Lund I get all the signs but that's it :(

Annalou, are you absolutely not drinking any liquids for at least two hours before you wee on the OPK? What time of the day do you test? You're CD13 today, right? How long are your cycles?

Golden I'm afraid I haven't ovulated for about 6 years so I cannot remember for the life of me what happened before, during or after! BUT I do remember as a teenager getting stains in my pants from all the CM (I don't get anything any more) so let's take it as a good sign :)

Anna do you have PCO? Because I've been told over and over that OPKs don't work for women with PCO...just a thought. I'd trust the signs of your body (EWCM) more than I'd trust those sticks...

Well lovely ladies am cd 15 today an I have had no sighns of anything as yet OPK egg white no nothing ... Golden don't mean it by putting pressure on u I just have a gut feeling an my gut feelings are very realy wrong lovely I do hope your DP is ok after that marathon give him lots of tlc annalou sounds like u may be ready to ov get bed rocking lovely .... Golden do u think I will cover my best ov days well if I start bed rocking from tomorrow every other day for this next week ?
