CLOMID first timer....

cheekycurls · 05/09/2011 17:52

I can't seem to find any clomid threads that are active, so thought I would start this one.

Currently just finished taking my last tablet (50mg) on my first month of clomid, I'm very excited & nervous at the same time.

So many things going on in my head, no one to really talk to, symptoms are a bitch (but must mean something is working if I have symptoms yeah?!) Confused

has anyone taken clomid without being monitored? My consultant isn't going to scan me to check on follicles, I just have to go back to see her in 3 weeks (not sure what for?) Blush

Really hoping this works! Hmm

But if anyone wants to join me on a clomid ride, share info or success stories, feel free to...... Smile

Does anyone else have tons of watery cervical mucus? Two days of it now. I'm thinking of putting a lilo in my knickers and going for a paddle Shock

Hi everyone I'm new in this site and don't no if I'm written in right post but here is my story. I was dignosed with pcos after having a miscarage me and my partner then when on trying to conceive for 2half years with no luck went to my doctors they done blood test and see I had high levels of testosterone so was referred to fertility clinic had hsg test done my tubes are not block so that's good news and my partners swimmers are good good so they started me on clomid 50mg to take on days 2-6 I'm currently in tablet 4 and having hot flushes feeling sick and feeling bloated is this good and Im really worried Is this normal. And my fertility doctor is not checking my bloods or scanning me is this also normal practice thank you jess x

goldengirl71 · 21/10/2012 18:01

Hi, Jess, and welcome Thanks. The hot flushes, nausea & bloating are very normal. Other side effects can be weight gain, mood swings, blurred vision (very rare. If this happens see your GP at once), breast tenderness & swelling, headaches & hair loss (but this is rare). Lots of women on here are not being offered blood tests or scans. You can take charge of your own ovulation monitoring, however, by charting your basal body temperature each morning, which will tell you exactly if and when you ovulated. See fertilityfriend.com for more details.

To give you an idea of when ovulation is on its way you should buy the cheap OPK test sticks off the internet and wee on them from around day 10 of your cycle until you get a positive result. Good luck!

Meluv · 21/10/2012 20:34

Welcome Jess we are all on the clomid journey I had headaches and tiredness I'm on my first cycle of clomid currently on CD 8 I too had to take mine days 2 to 6 I took mine if a night I heard it was best as u slept through most of the side affects good luck hunny always hear to chat to if u need me x

Annalou84 · 21/10/2012 21:09

Hi Jess, I'm currently on my 4th tablet :) I'm having no side effects as of yet but I also take me at night. I have pcos too my doctors are not doing blood tests or scanning so I bought done ovation tests from boots (first responce) I've started testing as my doctor advised to start on tablet 3, obviously I've had negative readings.

I've found an app that tells you when you should ovulate from taking your first tablet www.babymed.com/tools/clomid-ovulation-calculator

Hope this helps :)

loveone · 21/10/2012 21:34

hi everyone- i am so disappointed and feel i have no-one to talk to that understands what were all going tho.

i am on my second cycle of clomid (50mg) and the first cycle was ok i had developed one good follicle however this month i developed to many around 6 (so was told not to have sex).

they have now told me they are only going to give me 25 mg very disappointing as i dont think its going to work.

i am starting to feel so stressed and that im by myself my partner does not understand.

this process is starting to get me down it may be naive by i really though it would of worked the first time...
Sad

goldengirl71 · 21/10/2012 23:53

Annalou, thanks for that link - I believe it's really useful and corresponds with the dates I already had in mind.

Loveone, the reason your doctor told you to abstain from sex was the risk of all six eggs being fertilised which would be an horrendous headache for the poor, beleaguered NHS who would have to cope with your sextuplets (they don't actually care much about whether we have babies but they very much do care about what a drain us women are on the NHS). If I were you I would go ahead and ttc. On the other hand, we could say that your doctor has been very wise in telling you to refrain as the risk of multiple pregnancies is a very real one and not to be laughed at.

Your body obviously over-reacts to Clomid and so the likelihood is that you will respond just as efficiently to 25mg as the rest of us would to 50mg. Don't see it as set-back, rather see it as an adjustment in order to relieve your body of unneccessary burdens.

If, after a few months of 25mg there is no pregnancy, you can always buy your Clomid off the internet. I will certainly be doing so if my 50mg fails. Chin up, love...where there's a will there's a way.

I think we all need to be patient, realistic and hopeful without believing this drug is the answer to all our problems. The most we can hope for is that it will make us ovulate properly. The rest of the story (well-timed intercourse; great diet & vitamins; healthy weight; quitting smoking, alcohol & caffeine) is down to us. I honestly don't think any pill will make us a baby if we're junk food-loving, beer-swilling smokers with a BMI of 29.

goldengirl71 · 21/10/2012 23:56

P.s...CD14 for me tomorrow and I'm off to the hospital for my first scan...wish me luck! Smile

Jessicatodd12 · 22/10/2012 09:24

Morning everyone took my last tablet today and iv not had none off the side effects that I have been feeling lol if anything I feel great and thank you very much every one for the handy info my doctor did not tell me any off this and I don't feel so worried now. I feel so happy I'm not going through this alone I have got a lot off good support but people don't really understand so glad not alone. And good luck goldengirl71 with you scan xx

Annalou84 · 22/10/2012 09:59

Good luck golden :)

It worried me what loveone is saying as she is getting scanned so they can see how many eggs have been released and told her not to have sex, what about those of us that are not getting scanned his wold we know if we produced may eggs?????

Don't get me wrong I can't wait to get pregnant but in my mind I see it as 1 baby I know there is a higher risk of mulltipuls on clomid. I will be happy with whatever I get but got to say anymore than 1 I would be crapping myself lol.

It's my last tablet tonight so looking forward to get that out the way and to start the next part of the wait. I bought some eay pregnancy detection tests that can tell on some woman as early as 6 days before the missed period, I worked it out I have 14 days to wait until I can start pregnancy testing :)

goldengirl71 · 22/10/2012 10:40

Annalou, read the packet of those early response pregnancy tests - they only detect pregnancy 6 days before a missed period for 60% of women (so lots of disappointed ladies).

I've just got a beautifully strong, dark line on my OPK...I'M LH SURGING!!! Grin

Meluv · 22/10/2012 11:02

Woo hoo goldengirl am so happy for u what cd are u on an r your cycles regular an how long is your cycle .... Annalou I am under a fertility doc think that is y I am being scanned an having bloods done i had to pay £360 for 3 months on clomid an monitoring I have my scan on wed am so excited am now at CD 9 but not a clue when I will ovulate as my cycles vary in lengths they are not the average 28 days mine can be up to 36 days apart just have to wait an see Hun .... Jessicatodd r u being scanned an monitored Hun good luck to us all x

Meluv · 22/10/2012 12:22

My scan is Thursday girls mixed up annalou that link is fab u put up thanks Smile

goldengirl71 · 22/10/2012 13:16

Meluv, thanks. I am on CD14 and my cycles are usually 28 days. I usually ovulate on CD15 so today's OPK positive corresponds correctly - should be ovulating within the next 24 hours! I'm stupidly fantasising about seeing three follicles fit-to-burst on the screen later Shock

Meluv · 22/10/2012 13:38

goldengirl I went in the link that annlou put up an it said I shud start Lh testing from today an do some bed rocking between 22 an 29 but my cycle is not the average 28 days I said I was not going to stress out an do all the testing bits but hey I have today an there was no Lh surge Sad so now I think am going to leave it in the hands of fertility doc to check for follicles that is my best bet I think good luck with your scan I to hope there are a few grapes ready to burst for u please let us no big hugs x

MyDreamDays · 22/10/2012 15:22

Thank you goldengirl71, im buying some preseed!! I dont really have cm, its few and far between these days lol. I asked my doctor and they said not to worry about it?? But it seems i do need it to help the sperm survive, anything is worth a go really. Everyone is sooo right....positivity is the key. Reading the chats keeps me smiling, have to admire your humour, ha ha ha just read post bout your DP ejaculating on your tits ha ha ha Grin

I should have ovulated over the weekend, and i put in alot of effort wearing out my man lol so fingers crossed. Going to continue right through till friday....just in case Smile

Wannabemom · 22/10/2012 17:27

Hi all,
I'm a newbie on here and just getting ready to start my first round of Clomid. It's emotional to read all of the stories on here and it has put a little perspective on the process I'm embarking on. Optimistically, I was hoping that it would work the first time around, but I can see that I need to get a little realistic - and patient.
I was hoping one of you experienced Clomid ladies can help me determine what day I'm on (I'm still trying to get all the abbreviations down, so bear with me :) ). Saturday night, i had some spotting around 8pm, but by by the time I went to bed around midnight, af was at full flow. Does that make CD1 Saturday or Sunday? My OBGYN said to take Clomid on days 5-9, so I want to make sure I do it right. Some people on here recommend taking it in the evening, so I was thinking of starting the evening of Wednesday. Do others have experience with evening versus morning?
I'm so happy I found this forum. It will be nice to have someone to talk with about this process.
