Help with ovulation times......confused.com thanks to GP!!!

Hi there hope you experts can help me I'm slowly ok rapidly going insane!!!

Have been TTC for over a year, haven't had any issues before (3 kids and one ectopic pregnancy) have been to GP who says all hormone levels etc are fine, no sign of early menopoause and I'm ovulating normally??? asked him when best fertile times are he said 'welllllll' and went on saying 'sometimes it can be just after your period sometimes it's 14 days into your cycle you've just got to find when's right for you'!!!

So when is the best time lol and how do ovulation kits work? when do you do them etc?

BTW am 39 this year so on the decline I know :(

Preuly going by the facts that you have been ttc for over a year and you have also had an ectopic, you should be referred now to a gynae for further evaluation. You're beyond the stage also of now using ovulation kits.

I would ask whether too your man been tested to date. Its no point doing tests solely on you alone, he should be tested as well.

Ovulation is not an exact science and it can occur earlier, later or not at all in any given cycle. Its certainly not always the 14th day.

I would seek a referral from another GP and if they remain unhelpful consider changing GP practice.

I agree. Most women don't ovulate exactly the same day every month (my charting indicates I ovulate anything from cd8-13 with an average 27 day cycle). I wouldn't worry too much about charting/ovulation kits, I'd push for a referral with your fertility history. In the mean time, aim for swi 3 times a week. Hope you get the answers you need. If your GP doesn't refer you, seek a second opinion. Over six months of ttc when your over 35 is the time to be referred.

Thank you :) I really had to push just to get blood tests, hormone levels, menopause screen etc He was very much of the 'you've got three children why are you even bothering me with this' attitude. I think you are right, I'm going to push for a specialist referral because if there are any issues that would make another pregnancy dangerous I couldn't risk that either with already having the three children. We've also talked about adoption too....

But you need to see a specialist, don't you, to get the facts and make an informed decision? He doesn't have a right to decided the size of your family! :)

Most people ovulate 12-16 days BEFORE the start of their period. But I agree with others that after a year you should be pushing for further investigations.
