Hi, me and dh have been ttc-ing since May. Periods are very regular every 28 days.

Last period was 5th Nov, and bought some ovulation tests from ebay so just out of interest tested on 23rd Nov (being day 18 of cycle) and test was positive so i was ov-ing, did the deed that night.

Period was due on Fri, no sign. Have had niggly cramps from a week before period due. Sore boobs, and i funny feeling i am pregnant....

But have done 2 clearblue test both negative. Did one day before period due and one day period due.

If i concieved on day 18/19 would i still miss period on day 28? or test positive on day 28? I am so confused ?!?

I am now 3 days late, and dont feel like period is going to show, but why both tests negative?

Help, and sorry for rambling!

are you sure there isnt a ghost of a line ? It may be that your hgc levels just arent strong enough yet to show up. I read sometimes it takes a while for it to get into your urine.

I read yours and thought my word this coule be me , my last period was also 5th Nov !!! Theres a few of us on the same path same days right now.

good luck xx

Maybetwo...its a nightmare! isn't it? i have ordered some tests off ebay last night (too expensive to keep paying shop prices) so they should come tomorrow.

It's strange as everywhere tells you that on a 28 day cycle you ov 14 days. I was shocked when the test said i had ov-ed on day 18.

Good luck to you, hope you get the result you are after

No, on a 28 day cycle on average you ov 14 days. Some people will be earlier, some later.

feastofsteven · 05/12/2005 09:29

It's possible to get false negatives on HPTS. Sometimes the tests don't show up until you are a week late. Probably most reliable testing with your first morning wee!

best of luck

Thanks everyone,

Didnt test with first morning wee (too impatient) felt certain the tests would have been positive.

Did think i saw a very very VERY faint line, but i think your mind plays tricks on you! so wont believe till i get a bright pink line.

do a clearblue digital next time, so you get a clear yes/no answer, rather than drive yourself mad looking for lines..

pucca · 05/12/2005 09:37

Feastofsteven, Good idea, they just cost too bloody much lol.

Pucca, if you oved on day 18, your AF would be due about 14/16 days after that. You are maybe testing too early for the test to show + on day 28. Maybe try again on Wednesday?

pucca · 05/12/2005 11:52

My period is always every 28 day, has been since starting them when i was 14.

I think i must ov late in my cycle, i know i was due on the 2nd Dec.

So beacuse i only ov-ed 10 days beofre period due, would i still miss a period if pregnant? (i am a bit thick lol)

Would a test be positive only 10 days after if i did concieved?

Really cant get my head around it al all!

Sorry for being a pain

with my last pg I went to my GP for test, 5 weeks since day 1 of last period, test was negative (although GP said I definatly had all the right symptoms, it was just too early too show up on the test she used)
I went back a week later and test was positive.

hope that make sense!

Pucca, you probably tested too early.
After fertilisation the egg has to travel down into the uterus and implant itself in the lining. I think I have read that this can take up to 14 days.
Only once implanted will it start producing the hormone hcg and it takes a further couple of days after this for the hormone levels to rise in the blood and for it to make its way to your urine. Only then will you be able to pick it up in a test.
Sooo, if you think you conceived on day 18/19 - doing a test 10 days after ovulation could well have been simply too early as you may have to wait until as late as day 35 in your cycle for the tests to pick it up - which would be this Friday, if you can wait that long....

The second phase of a woman's cycle is fixed, pretty much, for each individual woman. I always get my period 11 days after ovulation - you may be longer or shorter. I think I read that most women have a second (luteal) phase between 10 to 14 days.
So if you ov'd on day 18/19, IF you have a period this time (hopefully not) then it would come a set number of days after ovulation - maybe your luteal phase is normally 10 days, or maybe you ovulated later this month - or maybe the ovulation prediction was wrong.

Does that make sense?

Epiffany · 05/12/2005 13:21

I ovulated late in a 28 day cycle usually day 17-19.
I tested + on day 3 of being late on my period with my daughter. So on moring wee of day 31 and used a predictor brand one.
All tests before then were negative

pucca · 05/12/2005 14:38

Thank you all so much

Rubles....thats makes sense, and i understand how you put it so thankyou not confused any more.

I think i will leave it till Fri now as then i will be a week late.

Thanks again...i am a bit dense about this type of thing lol.
