Can anyone help on the above??? My periods have become very unregular this year rangeing from 28-35 days. I have not once had a positive on an OPK test. I have heard that AC can help OV become more regular. Has anyone used this and found it to work?? Any advice would be appreciated!!

Ive never actually used it but there seems to be mixed opinions but a lot of people say to not go near it without speaking to a expert on herbal medicines as it can do a lot more harm than good. and it messes with your cycles even more and makes them more irregular, dunno whether this is right or not, probably better to speak to a professional.

Please, please, please don't take AC without seeing a herbalist. AC lengthens your leutal phase, but does not resolve ovulation issues. See your gp and ask them to run some bloods to check your lh and fsh levels, and throw away OPKs, they are rubbish and will just add to the stress. How long have you been ttc for?

To add a little balance, I am taking AC (under the guidance of an acupuncturist/herbalist) and I have had no ill effects so far. My cycle stayed more or less as it was before the AC. I am just starting cycle 2 on it. It hasn't helped me get pregnant though!

I agree with the advice of only taking it on the advice of a herbalist. I also agree with the advice to try to stay relaxed unless you have been trying a long time or are of more advanced years!

the key is check with a specialist before taking anything. Many herbal remedies are v powerful (some shops won't stock AC or herbs like clary sage anymore) and apply the same sense as you would to anything else. You wouldn't take clomid without being checked out by a specialist after all.

I was having very long cycles and extremely short periods (60+ day cycles). I had tests which showed a hormone imbalance and it was suggested that I wasn't ovulating. I took Agnus Castus for about three months and my cycles did become shorter. I stopped taking it and got pregnant about two months later (this was after trying for a long time). I've no idea whether it was the Agnus Castus or would have happened anyway, but personally I was at the end of my tether with trying, and felt like I had to do something.

I have to say though, I wouldn't really have described your cycles as that long, but very much within a normal range?

I never got a positive OPK either, so I wouldn't necessarily worry too much about that.

I self medicated the Agnus Castus. I didn't really feel like my cycles could get much worse, and its not like herbalists are particularly well regulated anyway - its all a bit woo really.

Wow, thanks for the advice ladies!! I had no idea what it was and assumed it was an everyday herbal tablet!! Im not worried enough to start taking something like that!

My cycles were spot on 28 days prior to a MMC 6 months ago. Left it a few months before trying again, so it's not been that long. Was just hoping I could go back to pinpointing when I ovulate.

Ah, I'm sorry about your mmc. It does take a while for your cycles to settle down after a mc, but it may be worth speaking to your gp and ask for some blood tests anyway.

Thanks Lissie! I think I will give it a tiny winnie but longer before going to the docs! We have dtd every other night over the past 2 weeks in the hope we will catch the egg at some point!!!
