I have been trying to get pregnant for over 2-3 years now. I have type 1 diabetes and I am overweight I have lost 4 stone up to now. But doctors still say it?s not good enough. We both done tests, my boyfriend test results came back good. But no one has done any tests on me. ?? I have talked to so many women who have type 1 and very big with high blood sugar levels and yet she's got the help and is now pregnant... I don't know what else to do or say to the doctors they say to me it?s your life it?s up to you, but they won?t help until I sort out my diabetes and weight. So really it?s not up to me, it?s all down to then as they will need to run tests? Has anyone else had the some trouble? Or like it??? What can I do?

If your GP refuses to investigate, see a different GP! I can't believe despite losing 4 stone (hats off btw! Well done you!) They say it's not enough. May I ask how much you weigh/your bmi now? After 2-3 years they should be at least checking your bloods. Are you trying for your first child? They should be checking your sex hormones and progesterone levels at the very basic level. Have you tried charting to see if you ovulate?

What's your Hba1c? If it's been good for 12 months (between 4 and 6, closer to 4 on waking IIRC), then ask for different help. If your Hba1c and BMI are good, then your chances of miscarriage and stillbirth are less; if they run high, you'll have more probs conceiving and the pregnancy will be higher risk. Better to get it sorted now.
