clomid without supervision - madness?

Hi there,
I'm thinking of repeating the clomid treatment I underwent last year which resulted in pg and birth of my beautiful and very long awaited dd.. I responded well to the 50mg, low dosage, no womb lining thining and not an excessive follicle response.. could I repeat this myself without scans etc? The only thing I wouldn't have is the ovulation trigger.. am I mad?

I know, I know.. just thought I could pretend to be a regular Joe and just fall pg without tonnes of scans and prodding and blah blah about follicles and mucous etc etc it's all so artificial.. I ttc for 2 yrs without clomid, nearly went mad.. took it and fell pg straightaway.. just thought if I've had two good reactions to it what would the stats be to have a bad one now?

I think you definitely shouldn't chance taking clomid without any monitoring.

Did you see the programme last night about the Lamb sextuplets, the mother took clomid and first time got pregnant with one daughter. The next time she took it she missed a scan, which she didn't realise was important, but would have shown the clomid had caused her to produce 6 eggs which resulted in her sextuplets. sadly 2 of the sextuplets didn't survive, they were born 14 weeks early.

Please don't take the risk just for the sake of having to have a few scans.

utter madness, for the reasons outlined. why risk it?

I'm on Clomid at the moment - was scanned regularly during cycle one but no scans this cycle - the advice from Kings Hospital was that scanning was needed for the first cycle only to rule out hyperstimulation.
So If I were you (and you don't want to be overly prodded and poked and wait for referrals/pay through the nose for a full work-up at a private clinic) I'd go and see a private GP, get your scrip, and get your scans done at a private ultrasound clinic for the first cycle (GP will probably ask for this anyway). I don't know where you're based but there are several private ultrasound places in London (who predominantly cater for women paying for their own pregnancy scans but do this kind of follicle scanning too).
