New thread as the old one was getting to 1000. So, 4 BFP's in the last thread, lets see if we can up the total considerably on this one :)

Hi Fatima - do check the fertilichat website. There is loads of advice on the male factor section on which supplements help with different sperm issues, it helped us a lot. I think the frustrating thing is having to wait til you can see another result and it does take a few months to see changes.

I got my first referral appointment date today at the hospital. Could anyone shed light on what happens at this one. Had
Visions of being asked how many sexual partners I've had etc etc

Biscuitsandtea · 24/07/2011 08:49

Hi Peaceport, from memory at our first appointment they took medical history etc and pregnancy history. Don't recall them asking about sexual partners - but they definitely want to know if you either have kids together or if either of you have kids with anyone else, or any previous pregnancies etc. Probably asked questions about alcohol, smoking etc, the usual suspects! That was about it I think.....

mrsden · 24/07/2011 18:24

How are you feeling today fatima? It sounds like your DH's count was similar to the first one my DH got. But his second was quite a bit higher so they obviously do vary a lot between samples. It might be a good idea to ask your Dr if they think it would be worth your DH seeing a urologist so that they can see if they can find a cause for the low count. 3% morphology is ok so don't worry too much about that, my DH has only 1%. I felt like things were totally hopeless at first but I do feel more positive now. It is likely that it won't be straight forward for us to get pregnant but we will get there. I keep reminding myself that it does only take one!

The hardest thing I find at the moment is the jealousy I am feeling towards pregnant friends who have not had to struggle to get pregnant. It is hard not to wish I was in their shoes. And I don't like thinking like this. I am feeling more positive in general though. I see the gynae on Thurs and I just hope that we don't get any more bad news. I know it's silly but I expect bad news now.

How is everyone else? This thread desperately needs another BFP so we can all have a bit of hope that it might be us next.

NervousNelly · 24/07/2011 22:25

Hi everyone,

Had a very busy weekend, which was good. Visited family which was fun, except for my brother finding my MN app on my phone and asking me if I was pregnant or trying for a baby. I think I blushed, which was not great, but pointed out that I'd had a couple of glasses of wine, so maybe I got off with it Hmm. (And so much for my resolve not to drink on the 2ww!).

8DPO here. I am fairly certain this month is another BFD. No symptoms of anything. I've had the odd twinge that is somewhere between ovulation and period pains, but nothing that could be classed as "cramps". I'm sorry about all the poor SA results :(. I guess we will hear about ours next week (my blood tests were done a few weeks ago) so it will be back to the doctor to see where we go next.

Oh well, I'm cheering myself up with Ben and Jerry's :)

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2011 06:50

Morning everyone.

Nelly glad you had a nice weekend. It isn't always feasible to be too saintly during the 2ww so I shouldn't worry too much. Eeek at your brother finding the app though. I was at my parents' house yesterday and trying to discreetly use mn without my --hawk eye- mum reading over my shoulder...

As for me, I have cracked this morning and done a test. AF is now about 5 days late but still only 15dpo but ..... [drum roll] ..... [whispers] ... I got a faint bfp!!!

Am absolutely terrified just now. Am going to Sainsburys to buy one of everything in the of test department. But am so scared mother nature is playing a cruel trick on me. After 19 mths it couldn't be could it?

Am all wobbly......

joycep · 25/07/2011 07:25

Biscuits&tea - woohooo, a bfp is a bfp!! That's massive news. After 19 months of course you're hesitant but wishing you big congrats and crossed fingers for uneventful pregnancy!

joycep · 25/07/2011 07:34

Biscuits - have you had any symptoms and did you do anything differently this month?? Spill the beans!

I felt sick through the night on Friday so cue me lying there thinking this could be it, I never feel sick , it must be morning sickness ...at night. Got up on Saturday to find that my mother and brother also felt sick and it looks we had ate bad fish. Damn! No more symptom spitting!!

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2011 08:55

Symptom wise I have had different symptoms this month (and I can assure you I have 'spotted' symptoms for pretty much the previous 18 mths too!

So, things I had this time (and I apologise in advance for the general tmi nature of these - by reading this you will know all of my least attractive bits Blush):

  • Achey boobs - not really painful or anything but a bit tender if I laid on my front or if I ran up and down stairs and stuff (to be fair I have fairly sizeable boobs so running is not something I ever enjoy but they definitely felt more tender)
  • A bit of mild constipation (sorry if TMI, but it is something I remember from a previous pg. Annoyingly I can't remember if I had to have prune juice during the pg where I had a mc or the one which produced my son, or even maybe both - that is frustrating me now). Not too bad but just 'more difficult to poo' than normal. Again sorry for the TMI but I think it might be relevant.
  • Lower back ache
  • More spots than normal. I normally get a few spots before AF turns up (just to further compound everything) but this time I got a few really nasty spots about 1-2 weeks before and then some more just before AF arrived (fair to say I'm not looking my best now). I also had bad skin throughout my last pg.
  • Tiredness at times, but I wasn't sure at the time if I was genuinely tired or just tired of ttc (and maybe a bit depressed about it, which can make you feel tired and lethargic), or tired from running round after DS, or even just imagining the tiredness because I so badly wanted to be pg. Before I got my bfp with the pg for my DS, I remember I had gone swimming with DH. I was supposed to be working towards doing about 60-100 lengths for the swimathon. Was up to about 50 lengths normally and then went swimming and did 20 and was just pooped. Totally knackered. Couldn't work out what that was about until I got the BFP. However, that memory has meant that EVERY time I go swimming during the 2ww I am desperate to be so tired I can't carry on (what a loon) because I want there to be a symptom again) so can never tell if it is imaginary tiredness or not. (Hope that makes a teeny bit of sense - what a ramble)
  • Felt sick on Saturday in the car. Now, to put that into context I had been on MN on my phone which would probably make me feel travel sick, but when I stopped MNing I felt way more sick than i normally would. To the extent I was going all hot (like you do before you actually are sick) and I was looking to see if there was a safe place in case I had to tell DH to pull over. I should point out that DH was driving while I was MNing......
  • Have been slightly off my food - unable to finish breakfast a few days etc. Very unlike me but again I put it down to potential nerves about the 2ww.

In terms of anything we had done differently, we are in the second month after my HSG x-ray which is supposed to help things for a few months apparently. Also, when we first went to the GP at the start of the year and DH had a SA done in Feb, his motility came back really low. he cut out pepsi and started taking the pregnacare man bit and when he had another one done in May his levels came back much better. He has never drunk much alcohol or any tea or coffee. So maybe it was just a combination of improved DH input and a little bit of clearer pipework from my side and that was it. I also read on MN about having pineapple during the 2ww to help the bean stick so I did buy a carton of pineapple juice, but I don't know if that would have made any difference. I quite like pineapple juice anyway so wasn't too much of a hardship.

Sorry for such a long post - well done if you managed to get all the way through it :) xx

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2011 08:59

I am sooo sooo scared today after all this BFP nonsense. Having had nothing for 19 months I really can't believe that this could finally be it. I can't think of myself as pg, just as someone who has got a bfp which is yet to be disproven (iyswim)

Before we had DS we had a mc so I am just beside myself with worry. I think if I get some more tests from the supermarket and get a few more BFPs then I might even whisper the word pg but am sooooo sooooooo worried just now.

Still one day at a time. If I am about 4 weeks along then I only have another 36 weeks to go, or 252 days to tick off one at a time Hmm

popcorn78 · 25/07/2011 09:24

Biscuits-yay, yay and yay! Delighted for you-brilliant news, so so happy you have got your bfp after such a long wait. Try not to worry too much xxxxx

poutintrout · 25/07/2011 09:25

Grin Our first BFP on this new thread!!! Looks like congratulations to me Biscuits, though I understand that after 19 months you are a bit disbelieving! It really is wonderful news, so happy for you.

Also reading your symptoms was really interesting - thanks for doing that. When did you start feeling anything if you don't mind me asking? Maybe you can settle the debate on here about if you haven't felt anything by 10dpo you are probably out Smile

Fatima I hope that you are feeling better today. I'm sorry that the SA wasn't as good as you'd hoped for. I agree though with Mrsden that if you can identify the cause of the problem it is usually fixable and you have something to address with the doctors help. I'm thinking of you.

Congratulations again Biscuits. Just realised this means you'll be leaving Sad

mrsden · 25/07/2011 09:35

wow biscuits congratulations. What fantastic news, I just said yesterday that this thread needed another BFP to lift our spirits.

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2011 09:47

Thanks for the congratulations you lovely ladies. Not leaving yet - need at least 3 BFPs before I'll believe. I did send a photo of the stick to DH though (who is away with work) to check there was a line there! Even if I am lucky enough to leave I will come back to check on you all if that's ok? Hopefully we'll all be on ante natal threads together soon anyway

I would say I started to get the lower back ache first followed by the poo problems (!) - that would have been in the week after ov probably. Then tender boobs started about a week ago so probs around the 10dpo mark?

No science to that bit though.

FatimaLovesBread · 25/07/2011 09:50

Morning all!

Congratulations Biscuits so happy for you!! Grin

I'm feeling a bit better today, I've or work to take my mind off it. Only two weeks to wait til the gynae appointment so I'm going to push for DH to be referred to a urologist.
Im hoping it'll be fixable though, got to keep thinking happy thoughts Grin

joycep · 25/07/2011 09:51

Thanks for that post Biscuits. Si have you not had any stomach cramps? I totally understand why you are scared- having a m/c can really make you very unconfident and even more so when it has taken so blooming long. But I am sure you will be fine. Take every day as it comes and best of luck!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 25/07/2011 09:59

Many many congratulations biscuits! Hope all goes well in the next
36 weeks or so! [Grin]

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2011 10:04

Oh yes Joyce - what a symptom to leave out - I knew I'd forgotten something!!! (Baby brain already???)

I did/do indeed have stomach cramps. Mostly fairly mild, as if AF was just getting ready to come, then a few days ago they ramped up a bit (I might have even posted on here about it?) and I thought it was game over, but then they have subsided again and I haven't got many now, but still the odd one or two.

DH though cramps meant it was game over too and when i told him this morning there was a second line, his first question was 'what does that mean?' and second was 'what about the cramps?'

I did read on a thread on here somewhere where someone else put their symptoms on and they had cramps too so that reassured me a bit. Can't remember now if I had them prior to the other 2 bfps for the mc and DS but I do recall when i was pg with DS i was CONVINCED I wasn't. Even though I was almost a week late. I must have had such AF symptoms that I was convinced it must have been something else.

The other thing I thought re the symptoms was that I am sure I never had sore boobs before (or not that I can remember) but I wondered if you get different symptoms when you've already had a baby? I imagine my body isn't quite in the tip top [ahem] condition it was when I conceived before and in particular my boobs have probably been through the mill a bit more than in those days, so I wonder if you get different symptoms? Or maybe I didn't associate things last time because (a) I hadn't been there before and (b) I wasn't symptom spotting like a loon as it was only month 3?

Pixiepops · 25/07/2011 10:05

Congratulations Biscuits Grin that's lovely news.

After thinking that my period had started on Friday, it promptly stopped on Saturday night & I had some nasty cramping. It still hasn't reappeared, so I'm half, sort of wondering as to whether it might of actually been implantation... Confused

Poas yesterday morning & this morning, but nothing yet... Ever hopeful though Smile

Pixiepops · 25/07/2011 10:07

Oops cross post. So you've had cramping too - eek!

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2011 10:10

Oooh good luck Pixie fingers crossed.

one other thing I did differently this month - I did a LOT of baking and eating the product of said baking. Kept getting it wrong when baking a cake for a friend so had several failed efforts to eat, plus some brownies i made that i decided were a bit toooooo gooey for her (she's just had a baby, didn't want to take a risk) so clearly baking is the thing to be doing?

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2011 10:13

Oooh oooh oooh, another symptom I'd forgotten (although probably related to getting horrible 'make-me-want-to-put-a-paper-bag-over-my-head' spots) - My face has felt really oily for a week at least.

See, I told you after reading all my symptoms you'll all be able to see what a glamourpuss I am Grin

xx

Biscuitsandtea · 25/07/2011 10:37

Ladies, I have put a pic of my test strip on Babycentre (I am officially nuts) - what do you reckon - BFP or not?

Link to my mentalling

Pixiepops · 25/07/2011 10:41

Definitely 2 lines Grin

eurochick · 25/07/2011 10:43

That looks like a pretty clear BFP to me! Congrats. And thanks for sharing all your symptoms.

Karbea · 25/07/2011 10:56

Congrats, definitely 2 lines!

I'm dpo7, no real symptoms yet...
