Anyone had a baby 47+

My best friend has finally overcome issues in realising that she desparately, really desparately, wants a baby at 47. If I'm brutally honest I want to tell her she has little chance, but I can't do that, I want to send her some messages of hope. So, has anyone had a baby recently by any means at 47 or older?

One of the Guardian writers wrote a weekly column about her late pregnancy called "Pregnant again... at 48!. You can have a look on the Guardian website.

happened to a friend of a friend - unexpectedly pregnant at (I think) 48; she was about to adopt (and did so) and has a healthy DS as well. But really, it's rare and fraught with risk. Egg donation probably her only option.

Agree with driving, it's incredibly incredibly rare.

There are blood tests she can have which will give her some indication of ovarian reserve etc and then she could decide from there.

Thanks - I'd forgotten that Guardian column. I think its very rare too, at least there are tests she can have; I didn't think there was a way of finding out whether you were still fertile. I am so hoping she won't be even more devasted when she looks into it further. She has been so much in denial about it that she hasn't taken in information about declining fertility etc. I tried myself for a second at 41 and after several miscarriages decided I had just left it too late. Still - anyone out there who did it?

The thing to remember with the ovarian reserve test, it tell you an aprox quantity, but nothing at all about quality.
