Sudden start of AF - possible missed pregnancy?

Sorry if TMI.....

Briefly; have been ttc #3 for over a year. I'm 40, DH subfertile.

AF started today on cd25 but without the usual warning of brownish muck first for a few hours before the main rush. It started suddenly with a bright red clot, then bright red bleeding and quite bad pain. This has happened to me once before months ago. Could it be a missed pregnancy?

Anyone experienced anything similar?

do you know when you ovulated?

Not exactly as I gave up all methods months ago, but I had a 21 day test earlier in the year which was fine.

I do not know for sure .. but I don't think this would be a missed pregnancy as I would doubt there would be enough cells to make a 'clot' this early (sorry if not what you wanted to hear)

if you really want to conceive would it not be best knowing when you ovulate each cycle .. when trying for DD I had blood tests which were fine but by charting identified a problem that would have made it impossible for me to conceive (short post-luteal phase) without doing something about it

worth a read if you haven't already

Thank-you both.

We stopped 'trying' on advice from our GP as we both believe in nature taking it's course. WE rejected 'artificial help', for want of a better phrase, as we already have 2 beautiful children and believe in what's meant to be.

However, although I try hard not to read too much into things, I do think that this time it's different somehow as I didn't have my usual chronic PMT. I'd be reassured, not upset, if I thought we had conceived for a brief time this month as I believe anything is possible.

In the meantime, back to the red wine and chocolate
