cheap ovulation test strips

Have started using these, but finding them a bit hard to interpret. The ones I've got come individually wrapped and have a green end. The other end has a very thin bit of foam over the end, and a thin plastic strip over that. On the thin plastic strip is a black marker line and arrows to show which end to dip. You wee in a cup then dip the strip no deeper than the black line for 10 seconds. you can see the moisture climb up the strip and pretty quickly the control line changes to purple. I though that i was getting negative tests despite having some ovulation pains. Today i decided to pull the foam off to look underneath, and hey presto! apparent positive after a few minutes. I then bathed DS and put him to bed, and came back about 40 minutes later. The positive test line had gone. So...1. is the test line meant to be under the foam? and 2. Is it likely to fade after 40 mins?

the line isnt meant to be under the foam, thats where the dye is that moves up the stick when its being used to test. If there is a bit left after the time it doesnt mean that it is a positive just excess dye.

I have noticed that mine never fade, i use them to compare to each other to see if the darkness of the line has changed.

www.peeonastick.com/ is a good website for questions and info on these tests

thanks. i'm now on day 20 of my cycle, usually about 32 days, and have been testing since day 14 as suggested on the packet. Still nothing, though getting some pains I'd always assumed were ovulation. I guess just keep SWI anyway. I assume they're not dud tests if the control line changes, though who knows?!

i mainly bought them for when i was coming off cerazette to get a clear idea of my cycle, ive been 29 days for the last 4 months so prob wont replace them when they run out but did find it useful at first.

Now im just going to work out the week and dtd at least every other day and hope for the best
