Irregular bleeding when ttc

Ok, I've tried to hold off posting in here as i'm trying to convince myself that it's early days and not to get stressed. Well it's not working - I am stressed!

We've only been ttc for 2 months but I have an ongoing issue with bleeding after sex. As we're ttc and having it every other day it means I'm almost always bleeding a bit. I had what I though was a period last week but today I'm having cramps and heavy bleeding like another period.

The doctor has tested for all sti's & infections which all came back neg and i've had a smear that I'm just waiting for results of (had a clear one in Nov though).

Doctor thinks it will be cervical erosion (harmless but causes bleeding).

But how am I ever going to know what is my period? Or how long my cycle is? Or when I'm ovulating?

Arrrggghhh!!! Has anyone any experience or words of advice?

Hi, I take it you aren't currently doing the whole charting business (I don't!) or any other testing? If not I would suggest buying some cheap ovulation predictor strips (cheap ones on amazon) so you can at least try and spot a LH surge. Just try them everyday until you can make some sense of it.

Also, is your GP doing some basic blood tests?

thanks for your reply. I've not done any ovulation predicting yet but I think I will this month so I can at least feel like I'm doing something proactive.

GP is waiting for smear results before next step, but she's a great gp & a gynae specialist so I hopeful I won't get told to "see what happens" if smear ok

Hi I had this, and have had it ever since coming off the pill. if you've just come off the pill it could be just your hormones settling down, 2 months is quite early. Can you see a difference in the blood during your period? mine is a different colour and also comes with period pains so i count that as day 1. mine also tends to be during the last week to 10 days before my period and the docs now think its due to low progesterone and short luteul phase. also i'm possible pcos but not sure if thats linked. I agree with the other posts, the GP should be able to work out if its harmful or not, and if not and its related to your cycle then i would advise keeping a diary of when it happens and keep pushing for blood tests and scans at different times in your cycle to see what your hormone levels are doing. I wish i'd got more of these done privately earlier than what i was offered on nhs. also agree with the peeing on sticks, knowledge is power! also lots of relaxing massages and general self pampering! best of luck.
