TTC but have to do heavy lifting

I work in a DIY store and frequently have to do heavy lifting.

We are going to start TTC this month and I am worried that if I get pregnant the hevay lifting I do before I know I am pregnant, may cause a misscarriage.

Does anyone know if this is likely ??

hi , i had a miscarriage in dec 01 and i worked in a shop where i had to carry boxes after the miscarriage i fell pregnant 2 months later and i quit my job and i now have a healthy 3 yr old ds and i really thought that could of been the cause of it ,but i also know people in the same firm carried on working while they were pregnant and they were fine , so im not really sure ...sorry!

I have been told many times that heavy lifting is not a problem for a healthy woman and healthy pregnancy until your tummy starts swelling. At that point your tummy muscles start separating and, while you cannot do any harm to the pregnancy, you can harm yourself by over-exerting the muscles.

After all, we're designed to have more babies while still lugging around the older ones.

Yes it's a tough one isn't it.

My mom is of the opinion that it would make no difference as millions of women do things without knowing they are pregnant that they wouldn't do if they knew they were.

Obviously though, I would like to minimise the risks.

Good point about the toddlers Prettycandles, hadn't thought of it like that.
