When does everyone on here do a pregnancy test?

I'm new to this whole ttc business but I noticed that people on here are setting certain dates to do pregnancy tests. Is there a rule for the earliest date you can do a test? I always thought you just wait for AF and if she's a few days late, then you test...This is all very confusing.

When you've been.ttc for ages and agonising over the tww there is a strong temptation to test early! You're right, you should wait til af is late. I tend to test on the day af is due with first morning wee.
Try not to get in the habit of testing early, you can get a bfp with a chemical pregnancy so you think you're pregnant but you.bleed as normal cos the egg didn't implant. Heartache for now reason.
All the best with ttc!

I always test the first day that a first response can detect hcg.

I tested after AF was a couple of days late after getting my fingers burned with a chemical pregnancy.

I don't test until I am late.

Same here with the chemical pregnancy, although I was a day late when I tested and still had the misery of a CP! Gah the longer you can bear leaving it the better I feel now. :)

whats a chemical pregnancy?

Purplebuns · 26/05/2011 22:26

Basically where you take a test that is positive, but then get your period (or negative test) shortly after as the pregnancy hasn't implanted properly. Gets your hopes up and then dashes them rather cruelly.

oh no, not another cruel way mother nature can treat you :(

thankyou purplebuns
