This should be clomid and IUI (for Katierocket) thread. Hoping this one will be luckier than the last - can't be any worse, don't think we had a single BFP did we?

Lots and lots and lots of luck to us all.

Sorry i haven't been looking at the thread, computer not connecting !!

Should be on again any day !! but now on day 22 so clomid is working a bit ( normally 18 day cycle), still in loads of pian intercourse and ovulation and when i'm on, waiting for lap op in May. But i reackon i have endometiosis.

Congrats Roobedoo....

I have been trying accupuncture the last three weeks, so maybe that's why my cycle is longer ?

By the way everyone, thank you all so much for the warnings of the mood swings..... WOW they are bad. Especially when i am tired.

Anyway, off to Oz at the end of this week for 10 weeks, so might be very hard to keep in touch. Will try though....

What's going to be my luck i come on the day we are due to fly out !!!!!!! OOOoooohhh....

LunarSea · 26/01/2006 15:09

Congrats Roobedoo - good to see it CAN work!

I'm having a month off this month as am away in the middle of cycle and therefore can't be scanned. Not that it'd do much good as even with 4 big juicy follicales which looked all ready to pop blood tests seem to show no ov last month. Next step is back to see consultatnt and they'll try something different....

Rachee · 26/01/2006 22:33

Well , i said i would be on any day and ...... Yup, today, day 22 of cycle.... clomid not exactly working for me, only stretched cycle out by 4 days.....

As we all say... May be next month

ionaming · 01/02/2006 20:11

Hello, please may I join you.....properly now. Been lurking (& have posted occasionally on this, and the previous, clomid thread) for several months now as I had a feeling that I would end up being prescribed clomid for secondary infertility. Saw Consultant today to get results of DH's sperm sample, my repeat day 2 & day 21 blood tests, my hycosy & other swab tests ..... all come back as "normal" and "ovulatory", although DH's swimmers were only 40% motility and apparently they like to see 50%.

Anyway, we're currently on cycle 17 (I think!) of ttc no. 2. DD is 4.5yrs & was conceived on 1st month of trying, so I (stupidly) assumed that we would conceive easily this time round too .

I've been prescribed 3 months' worth of clomid (50mg) and am due a visit from AF in 2 or 3 days, so not long before I can start taking them.

Fingers crossed, eh?!

Babydust to you all & congrats to the newly pregnant graduates of this thread

Iona x

Hi, Please can I join too. Dr has just advised that I don't appear to be ov'ing every month (been ttc no1 for 18 months nearly, 1 m/c Nov 2005) so has prescribed the same as Iona

Been reading up on Clomid and it seems pretty scary stuff with all the side effects etc. FIngers crossed I don't get affected too badly else DP won't come near me - I get terrible PMT anyway!

Just a quick q - how do you guys cope with the symptoms if you have any? Am also worred about the weight gain as am currently on strict diet!

Thanks

j x

ionaming · 02/02/2006 20:55

Hi Jen, I've been advised by several other clomid users to take your tablet last thing at night..... that way the medication is at its strongest during the night while you're asleep (hopefully!). Iona x

Can I join this thread please?

After TTCing for some time have now been prescribed 100mg of clomid. I am on Day 1 and wonder if I should start this cycle or the next as usually ov Day 17, 18 but DP away from Day 16. Does Clomid make you ov earlier? Also does anybody know why doctors say it is good to have a break of taking tablets of a month or two? If that is the case why do they prescribe it for 3 consecutive months? Am not planning IUI, just doing timed intercourse.

ShouldKnowByFriday · 15/02/2006 13:46

bump

Loubie37 · 16/02/2006 15:36

Hi

I would start the clomid this month if I were you - mainly because it can take a month or two to get working. I had blood tests done on month 2 & 3 (my specialist doesn't test in month one for that very reason) and it showed I ovulated in month 3 but not month 2.

As for making ovulation earlier - I don't know the answer to that one - sorry!

All the best xx

ShouldKnowByFriday · 17/02/2006 00:23

Thanks Loubie. I just took x2 50mg tablets fine mins ago so am trying this month. I did speak to an Obstetrician friend this evening who said that 100mg will prob bring earlier ovulation. Good luck this month.

ionaming · 18/02/2006 11:20

Morning all,

Been reading everyone's messages, but have not posted since taking my 1st clomid tablet, so thought I'd do a bit of an update!

AF arrived on Fri 3rd, so started taking my 5 days worth of 50mg clomid on CD2 (Sat 4th). Took the clomid last thing at night (as advised to help minimise side-effects!). Most noticeable side-effect has been me more irritable than usual, but could also be down to triedness & the stress of TTC! DH has been very obliging, bless him. He feels that if I have to take clomid, than the least he can do is be obliging with the BD'ing . So, have BD at least every other night (but mostly EVERY night!!) since CD8! (sorry, probably far TMI ). Currently on CD16 but have no idea when ov will be. Before clomid I usually ov'd around day 18 of 26/27 day cycle (so had short luteal phase), but I've heard that clomid can make you ov sooner (?). Anyway, I guess we will carry on with the BD marathon for a few more days

Really not expecting the clomid to work as I was already ovulating anyway. And I've also not heard of that many success stories on first cycle of clomid. Wish I could feel more positive, but I'm scared that we're coming to the end of the line with our secondary infertility & that we might have to accept that DD will be an only child. I doubt if we would be able to afford to take our treatment any further (all been NHS so far), so IUI / IVF will be out of the question. The emotional ttc rollercoaster is all becoming a bit much for us too, and I'm beginning to think it might be better to just accept our "secondary infertility" and get on with our lives

Anyway, I'm due to have another day 20/21 progesterone test during my 2nd cycle of clomid, but no other monitoring. Have another appointment with infertility consultant scheduled for end of 3rd clomid cycle.

Wondered if anyone has been through similar experience/fertility tests & could help with a couple of things I found out from my various blood tests? I remember hearing that the day 2 LH/FSH levels should be at similar levels. And I've read that an LH level that is higher than an FSH level could be an indication of PCOS? However, my levels are round the other way...... i.e. my FSH was higher than my LH level! Is this an indication of anything, or is this fairly normal? FYI, LH = 4, FSH = 8 ("good" apparently) & day 22 prog = 48 ("ovulatory" apparently). DH's results were ok-ish according to the consultant, although motility was a little low. His results were: count - 70 million, motility 40% (they like to see 50% apparently) & morphology of 20% normal forms.

Any interpretation of the above from anyone would be most appreciated

Wishing the rest of the clomid gang good luck - fingers crossed for you all. And sorry this was such a marathon post.....

Iona x

Greetings form OZ !!! just got a min to read and catch up.....

Hello to all the newbies ( i am new to, joined this thread two months ago, )

Catch up soon XxX

Good luck all

Roobedoo · 19/02/2006 20:26

Just popped in to see how you are getting on. Ionaming - have you got the book "Taking charge of your fertility", I can thoroughly recommend it and I'm sure it would answer all your questions. I would look up the answers but have lent it to a friend.

BTW, I got pg the month after I came off clomid and according to the fertility unit this is very common because the clomid is still in your system, but does not cause the thickening of the cm. Anyway, good luck to you all.

Hi all - sorry to crash but am wondering if I'll be joing the Clomid gang soon. I self diagnosed short luteal phase from mumsnet and the internet and my gp is going to send me for a FSH/LH blood test (also says SHBG on the test slip - any ideas on what this is?) Anyhow - query is, the slip says Day 2, but she talked about Day 3 in our consultation and things I've seen on here say both Day 2 and Day 3 - which is it?! (The GP was very helpful but wasn't in any way an expert, so wasn't really certain of this). Your advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Jodee · 21/02/2006 16:22

Hi! crashing as well - I will probably be joining you after seeing specialist for second time tomorrow to analyse bloods, etc. Looks like I'm not ovulating (or very sporadic), been using Persona for 5 months and only got 'egg' symbol once.

Jen1209 · 21/02/2006 16:47

Hi,

Would also recommend the book "taking charge of your fertility" I found it really useful! It answered all my q's - think everyone should read it, whether they are ttc or not.

Bloomsbury - day 2 or 3 doesn't matter (I had a similar panic as my day 2 fell on a Sunday which round here is impossible to get a blood test done)but not after this apparently...

Have taken my 1st month of tablets now and apart from turning me into some sort of weeping harpy, things seem ok. On Day 9 now so grabbing DP a lot!!!

Bloomsbury · 21/02/2006 17:16

Thanks for your response - its easy to panic about everything when you're at the start of this, as there seems to be so many routes and tests to take.

ionaming · 21/02/2006 23:31

Thanks for the book suggestions.... will see if I can get hold of a copy. Currently on CD 19/26, but no idea when I ov'd or anything (usually around cd18, but I'm guessing clomid might change this?). Noticed worse clomid side effects mid-cycle - really tired & very, very irritable Affected us quite badly at home, though luckily DH was forewarned. But my heart went out to poor DD - she's only 4.5 yrs & couldn't comprehend why her mummy was being such a cow for most of last week

Just hoping it's a means to an end. But when I was at my lowest point, was beginning to wonder whether it's worth going through all this every month at the expense of my DH/DD's sanity.

Will stop rambling now...... sorry everyone
Iona x
