Hello everyone!

Firstly I'd like to apologise for starting a thread that has probably been done zillions of times in this forum, but I am really desperate and I would really appreciate your opinions.

My husband and I are trying to conceive, but we have only really just started about a month ago.

Last month I had a very strange period, I had brown spotting (or even a bit more than spotting) for about a week and then my period seemed to suddenly start all over again after that week.

I have been following my cycle for the past 9 months or so and I am quite regular (except for last month), my cycle seems to be around 31 days long. If I count from the day that my "real" period started I am now on day 33, which is slightly overdue but not significantly.

A week ago (Saturday before last) I had really strong period like pains and I was sure I was going to have my period the day after, only it never came. The next few days I felt fine until Wednesday when I started feeling quite faint and dizzy. Whenever I move my head too fast, the world suddenly starts spinning around. I don't feel sick or nauseous, just light-headed and faint. I also had light period-like pains all day yesterday and still have not had my period today.

I did a pregnancy test (Clearblue) on Thursday and Saturday and they were both negative. My boobs are not sore, and I have no other symptoms apart form the dizziness and faintness.

I apologise again for the lack of originality and for the lenght of the post.

I would really appreciate your comments!!!

Ah! and a last question: is there anywhere in London were I could get a same-day blood pregnancy test without paying the earth?

Thanks again!

Not sure i can be much help, but this sounds quite like what I went through. DH and I started ttc and then 2 weeks later I was pregnant. I missed my period and did a pregnancy test a couple of days after I thought it was due, which was negative. I did another a few days later when it still hadn't arrived and it was positive, then followed it up with another one to confirm, whichw as negative!!!! So legged it down to Sainsbury's and got 2 more, which were positive :) Just keep POAS-ing. If you're period hasn't come and you are usually very regular then it seems to me like there is a good chance you are pg.

Thanks breadandhoney! Just came back from the pharmacy with 2 First Response tests!

Will let you know what happens...

Was it the first wee of the morning? If not then the hcg is your urine probably didn't have time to concentrate enough in order to register on the test.

youcancallmebroody · 23/05/2011 10:14

No it was not. Is it really that important?

I ran out of tests and could not wait to wee until I bought one, I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow morning...

Remember you have only been trying for a month, so it is still very early days. But I hope you get and answer one way or the other soon!!

DizzyKipper · 23/05/2011 15:42

Yep, the hormone takes time to build up in your urine - by using first morning wee the hormone (if it's present) will be at its most concentrated and you have the best chance of getting an accurate result. Personally I wouldn't trust the test you just took, though I wouldn't want to build up your hopes either.

Thank you breadandhoney and DizzyKipper for your thoughts and advice. I will keep posting.

I called the doctor and she said I might have a liquid imbalance in my face (head?) and that is why I am feeling dizzy. She did not rule our pregancy though, so we shall se...

I also just discovered poundland sells pregnancy strips at 1£ for a pack of 2. Although I know it is not healthy, for that price I now feel like I can just POAS whenever I want!

Thanks again!

Hehe, if you think that's good I got 10 Ultra Early tests for £3.99, free UK delivery from Access Diagnostics. I currently have 3 left :s They're out of stock at the mo though, but worth keeping an eye out for.

youcancallmebroody · 23/05/2011 18:40

Wow, that is good! I had only bough from the pharmacy previously at £11 or so for 2 tests, so it was a vast improvement. Will keep an eye for the ones you mentioned though!
