When to test- would like to test early!

Should be a basic question, but... Apparently some tests work from about 4 days before AF due. The question is, due according to what?

Normally I have a 28-29 day cycle- if I tested on day 25, it would be Wednesday. However, I think I ovulated late and, given my usual luteal phase, this cycle could be 32 days, which would give me a earliest test date of Friday. Am feeling nauseous and dying to test. What's the consensus on when would be sensible?

Conceiving no. 1 took ages and this is only the third or so month when we have had a reasonable shot at TTCing no. 2, so excited but also do not want to raise hopes too much...

I think with some tests it can be as much as 6 days earlier but the accuracy goes up the longer you wait according to the leaflet on First Response.

Why do you think you ovulated late?
I am a bit meh about early testing especially as the kits are so pricey but I can understand the Need To Know!
If you use an early kit on day 29 that should cover all eventualities if you did ovulate late? Good luck!
