Just found out you are pregnant after a previous miscarriage and too nervous to move over the to pregnancy boards? Freaking out about spotting, cramping, symptoms (or lack there of) and nervously awaiting your first scan? Here is a lovely place for lot's of support, hand holding and problem sharing.

Courtesy of owlbooty here are the Ten Commandments of the Freak Out Room.

  1. Thou shalt check thy knickers to the point of insanity until the baby actually arrives.
  2. Thou shalt also check the loo roll post-wipeage (sorry, gross, I know)
  3. Thou shalt bore thy physician and midwife to tears with the mentalling.
  4. And thy husband/boyfriend/family/neighbour's cat.
  5. Thou shalt obsess over the absence of symptoms.
  6. And the presence of symptoms.
  7. And the fluctuation of symptoms.
  8. Thou shalt pee on a vast number of sticks and keep ClearBlue and First Response in business.
  9. The day before any scan extreme mentalling is permitted without recourse to the Haddock.
10. Self-diagnosis with Dr Google is Forbidden.

The Haddock will be applied liberally to all transgressors.

See here for the old thread.

"ungrateful" I meant to say....

LaraMi · 17/05/2011 17:24

Hahhah Harassed - we both complained about our DHs and their cooking...

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 17:28

You had to mention Kiev's didn't you??!!......< adds them to the list>

So we're both ungrateful Lara Wink. Get a takeaway!! I would if I could....

He is lovely in lots of ways, he bought me one of those Chamilia bracelets the other weekend. No reason at all, and I'd been a total cow to him! I was stressed out because we were having friends for dinner and I was doing everything. So he went out to get some bits for me, and was blinking ages! Then he walks in with this bracelet and 3 bead things on it....

Minnie74 · 17/05/2011 17:30

Congratsblackkat on your lovely scan. Grin And thanks for the reassurance-feeling a bit better now. Midwife was very blase (is that how you spell it?) about pain and bleeding so figure I need to try to be more positive. Glad I've got the scan tomorrow though.

lara harrassed and bump all your food chat has made me hungry! Potato waffles sound delish. I'm all about potato at the minute, especially chips and hula hoops (any flavour will do as long as it's at least 2 bags worth!) I think I'm going back to being 6 too as I had Madagascar pasta shapes for lunch the other day- much to the amusement of my workmates- I preferred alphabetti spaghetti though. And have you tried the new Rowntrees Very Berry Jellies -if you like haribo they're yum!

IzzyWizzyletsgetbusy · 17/05/2011 18:20

dachs have been thinking of you today, good news the temp is staying down, try to focus on that. Every day those babies stay put brings them a step closer to viability. Am keeping everything crossed for you, lovely xxx

I do think your PILs were outrageously insensitive though Angry. Can you get dh to have a word with them to make sure it doesn't happen again?

bkackkat yay for a good scan, although sorry you had to go through the freaking out first. Hope you're feeling calmer now.

I think we have about five scanners tomorrow (!) so I'll be keeping my fx for you all too. Am hoping for a plethora of good news tomorrow please!

yrmotb your dinner sounds very healthy, our cupboards are bare and dh is driving back from north Wales so I'm toying with the idea of getting him to pick up a takeaway on his way in, but you're making me feel very unhealthy!! Oh and while you're here - why aren't you on the list yet?!

DCs have outed me to everyone at school, and I mean absolutely everyone, as feared, so I'm going to have to start facing it now . I think actually I'm worried about letting them down too - couldn't bear to have that conversation with them again.

wiggle did I see you popping in? Pull up a beanbag and make yourself at home x

pigletmania · 17/05/2011 18:32

Hi everyone (cheery wave) what a lovely friendly thread Smile. Lovely to see you all here, feeling a bit sick this afternoon and off my food which is a good sign as with the two early MC, I never felt that way.

Sad for Dachs thinking of you, and everyone else too that is going through a bad time at the moment, big (((((((((((((hugs to you))))))))))))

OrangeGloss · 17/05/2011 18:42

Dachs Angry at PIL, I agree your dh should have a word. I remember the thread about the lady whose waters broke in the US and she lasted for weeks. I don't mean to be insensitive and compare, I'm just thinking it can happen (((())))

Velvetcu · 17/05/2011 18:42

wow you lot have chatted a lot today!!!

blackkat I had a bleed at 11 weeks too and was also told it was normal and something to do with placenta. I'm glad it was all ok and that you got to see bean :)

dachs I'm pleased pups are still there, I am so hoping it all works out for you.

harassedinherpants · 17/05/2011 19:17

We were all busy "working" Velvet Grin.

Orange I remember that lady, was an amazing story.

Dh excelled himself: pork loins, baked beans and homemade chips Grin

nickstermum · 17/05/2011 20:51

Dachs good news they are still staying put...agree with Izzy and Orange.. Every day inside is another step towards viability. ope you are hanging in there kiddo x

tiggersreturn · 17/05/2011 21:01

Dachs - hope you have a better night tonight. Just take each day one at a time.

mamarara · 17/05/2011 21:02

dachs so good to hear you had an uneventful if sleepless night. Fingers and toes still firmly crossed for you...

Congratulations and phew on good scan results!

And good luck to everyone scanning tomorrow!

hairy I have hideous nightmares as well. It was the first thing that made me think i might be pg. And when I had dd I had them the whole 9 months. Really disturbing and sad dreams. In the end I started writing them down - good to 'put' the dreams somewhere and they didn't rattle around my head do much. I looked back at them the other day (when I realised I was pg) and thought to myself that I was actually mental.

I have just made banana cake! And lemon drizzle. Cake factor is high woo. This is the banana bread recipe. I make it nearly every week. But I add choc chips. Everything tastes better with choc chips.

And from cake to...cm. Mine is gross and so free flowing I keep freaking out I am bleeding, have to leg it to the loo to check. Nice.

luckyfor2 · 17/05/2011 21:19

Hi girls I wonderred if I could join you on here, I've been freaking for the past 5 weeks (I'm supposed to be 9 weeks today) after having three mc over the past year - last mc in January. I've been lurking for a while and know a few names on here from other threads. Got a scan booked on Thursday and I've been having weekly ones since 5 weeks. Feel relieved just after but by the end of the week the mentaling is insane.

After reading the last couple of pages I'm so wanting pickled onion monster munch and waffles and beans.hmmmmmmmm

lily06 · 17/05/2011 21:22

Mmmmm.....potato waffles, fish fingers, tinned spaghetti and a fried egg on top. My favourite 'lazy' meal when we just can't be bothered to cook.

Collie I think I'm 4+5 based on last AF, thanks for asking. Good to know I'm not the only one that obsessively poas! Freaked out this morning because the line was almost invisible on the asda cheapie. Have another cb digi ready for tomorrow though. Still kind of waiting for everything to go wrong.

Blackkat sorry to hear you had such a scare, but really glad everything is ok.

I'm amazed at how many of us there are on here, its going to take me ages to learn who everyone is!

CollieandPup · 17/05/2011 21:37

dachs hope the little pups are still hanging in there. Still thinking of you and your dh.

blackkat that's fantastic news about you scan. So sorry you had all that worry, you should have posted.

lily fx for the cb digi tomorrow. I'm sure it will be fine, no doubt just crapy cheap asda stick.

yrmotbfp your dinner sounds uber healthy. And very yummy indeed.

For those that are interested (probably noone) I had potatoe waffles egg beans and a few cheeky fish fingers (yum). Very unhealthy but i had my version of thai soup last night with lots of veggies!

Made the effort to go to the gym today for a swim, but forgot my costume, which I'd just bought today!!! Doh!!! Aim is to go tomorrow morning now Hmm

Loving the banana cake reciepe. I'm working from home tomorrow too but have no over ripe bananas to bake with!!

Good luck fellow scanners for tomorrow. May it be a lucky luck day for all of us. Xx

PinkFondantFancy · 17/05/2011 21:39

dachs hope you're doing ok this evening - fingers crossed for a more restful night's sleep and good news tomorrow xx

Mmmm potato waffles, a fair few of those get consumed in this house most weekends! They go a treat with sausages and fried eggs and baked beans for a quick and cheeky fry up mmmmm. I could really fancy some monster munch too. Although at the moment I mostly fancy a jam doughnut.

welcome lucky, congratulations on things being so far, so good! I had weekly scans until 12 weeks too, I can completely sympathise with the mentalling starting up about, erm, 1 day after each scan!!

wiggle it's great to see you on here nice lady!!

There's been loads going on in here today so sorry, I can't remember what else has happened but best of luck to everyone who's got scans tomorrow, I know there's loads of you. Here's hoping for lots and lots of lovely good news.

CollieandPup · 17/05/2011 21:40

Welcome lucky too. Congrats on your bfp. This is the place to be mentalling and stressing so you're in good company.

pigletmania · 17/05/2011 21:40

I know lily good luck hope that it is indeed a sticky bean Smile, nice to see you cep too and anyone that I have missed Smile

hotnspicyonions · 18/05/2011 00:04

Thinking of you Dach. xx

LaraMi · 18/05/2011 05:23

Bolloxyfuck...been up since 3.45am mentalling re scan. Why the fuck did I not have any scans since my 6 week dating scan? Am I nuts? Am also sure symptoms have gone. Am now famished too (for potato waffles) altho am sick to my stomach too. Plus DH keeps snoring in my ear and didn't turn over when I kicked gently nudged him. Wtf and how tf am I going to face this scan?

Blackkat · 18/05/2011 05:34

lara get up and go and eat something if you're hungry, and start drinking some water. Remember your mantra the odds are on your side. You saw a heartbeat, you've had symptoms and you've had no bleeding so all should be ok. I know that's hard to believe but try. Go fill up on some waffles. We're all there with you holding your hand x x

Blackkat · 18/05/2011 06:21

Good luck to scanettes today collie, minnie, harassed and banana hoping all well and to see the list updated and with more names on! Smile lara hope you're ok? Thanks to all for good wishes after scan yesterday, feel much calmer and can't stop looking at my haul of pictures! velvet reassuring to hear that you had the same and all was well, thanks so much for sharing, appreciate it x

PinkFondantFancy · 18/05/2011 06:40

Good luck again to everyone having scans today. Lara we'll all be there virtually squeezing your hand. Try and eat some potato waffles and don't forget to drink your pre-scan water slowly - I didn't and that combined with nausea and nerves resulted in projectile vomiting in the waiting room.... Grin

wombatinwaiting · 18/05/2011 07:10

Your projectile vomiting story still makes me chuckle pink!

Lara - I doooooo hope you can get through the time ok until your scan - what time is it? Re: temps here - this May has been ridiculous - it's been over 40 most days which is waaaaay too hot waaaaay too early. I'm really hoping things cool down a bit before summer proper....

Good luck to collie, minnie, harrrased and banana too - a big day on this thread today!

Still thinking lots of dachs and thank you for taking the time to keep us updated.

Congrats to all the newbies and welcome.

Here's a probably daft question - I saw some lovely maternity clothes last week (post 12 week scan so felt the jinx pixies could peace orf for a while) and while I know you are supposed to buy your nomal clothes size, all the clothes looked like they were for really big bumps - is this the case? Dying to get some but not if they're going to look silly.... I guess the best thing would be to try some on but feel a bit nervous doing so (daft, I know - someone get the haddock out for me would they?!)

Velvetcu · 18/05/2011 07:20

wiw I've had a nightmare getting mat clothes!! Sometimes my normal size fits, sometimes it doesnt you just have to try them on! I like the over the bump trousers - you fold over the band which makes it a bit tighter until you need it bigger.

dachs I hope you are ok this morning

good luck scanners
