Try using the ovulation calculator available on mumsnet. Look down on the right hand side of you page when you are in the conception section :-)

No all women with a 31 day cycle ovulate on the same day. It depends on the length of your luteal phase which is the time between ovulation and your period. This varies from woman to woman, can be as short as 10 days or as long as 16 days. So you could be ovulating anytime between day 14 and day 20. And you're fertile from about 3-4 days before you ovulate so you really want to be aiming to have sex from day 10 to day 20.

There are ways to pinpoint ovulation so that you don't have to guess every month. You can try ovulation predictor kits or chart your temperature/cervical mucus/cervical position (no cost bar the thermometer).

Good luck.

fourteen days before your next period

Docs tend to recommend 3 times a week/every other day of you can manage it! That way you're more likely to hit the right time without creating too much pressure around your fertile time.
