How long do you lie down for after sex?

Just wondered how long everyone stays lying down for after sex. As soon as I stand up (TMI) it all seems to trickle out so am now worrying that I am not giving it long enough to swim where it needs to if you see what I mean!

I try and lie down for 20 mins half an hour at least. Always in the evening so either fall asleep or lie there wondering when it's okay to pee!!

ConsuelaBananahammock · 12/05/2011 19:25

towel under your bum and lie with your legs in the air for about 15mins lol Grin

RightUpMyRue · 12/05/2011 19:26

About 15 minutes, get a bit bored after that!

Calyx · 12/05/2011 19:29

I use a mooncup after

Hasn't worked yet though grrr!

eurochick · 12/05/2011 20:07

10-15 mins

goingmadtrying · 12/05/2011 21:27

At the min my dh is on nights so trying to get some in early morning, however as dc downstairs and dh wants to go to sleep 5 mins max!!!!

Read on here the other day though that you dont necessarily need to stay laying down as the clever little sperm know what they need to do lol and the good swimmers will get there even if you stand up straight away! :)

we dtd with a pillow underneath and I lie like that for about 15 mins with my legs in the air if I can manage it. Not the easiest or romantic thing to be doing afterwards but if I was told I'd get a bfp by hanging upside by the feet for a week in the attic I'd do it so...Grin

no1childminder · 12/05/2011 21:42

we usually do it at bedtime, in bed, so whats that? roughly 8hrs lol

I also heard that you don't actually need to lie down too. I heard this was what a nurse said, also saying that lots of women ttc end up with cystitis due to not weeing for ages after sex.

despite this, i am trying to stay laid down as long as possible, through night, or til need to wee.

On a similar note I read somewhere on the www that lying on back with bottom slightly raised is good, but that with a tilted (inverted) uterus like I have, lying on your front is better. I don't know whether this true so I tend to lie there alternating every few minutes, and feeling a bit of a numpty doing so!

Calyx I also use a mooncup afterwards. It has worked for me 4 times. Unfortunately none of the pregnancies worked out but I don't think that has anything to do with the mooncup. Good name BTW, is it Lucienne Day inspired?

no1childminder · 13/05/2011 13:45

whats a mooncup??

Ooh I have a mooncup, never thought of trying that before! I usually wait about 15 mins.

Havingkittens I only just looked back on here today so missed your question, sorry! In case you ever peek back on my name is one of the characters in 'The Sorceress & the Cygnet' by Patricia McKillip :)

A few people have said it's also the name of a perfume but I haven't ever seen/smelled it (hope it's not awful ha ha)

Sorry to hear the pregnancies haven't worked out but thanks for letting me know it can work to get the egg fertilised. Just have to keep trying fingers crossed for everyone else who's trying too by the way!

orangehead · 20/05/2011 21:28

Depends what on tv Grin. Have heard you dont need to put legs up in air and although lying down isnt neccesary doing so for 15 mins and avoiding have a wee straight away can help the guys a little. But you hear so much stuff I really dont know what to believe

chipmonkey · 20/05/2011 21:29

8 hours. But I'm not a morning sort of girl.
