Hi!

We've been reading the experiences of people here on these boards for a while now (...I think it is called lurking) but have only just taken the plunge and registered. Firstly, my husband and I have to admit to having a slightly ulterior motive for joining up. We have read a few threads on the subject of IVF and egg donors and been struck by some of the amazing stories we've heard. We are currently being treated at the assisted conception unit at Guys hospital and are looking for an egg donor ourselves but are coming to our wits end after searching for several months now with no success. I am 33, Italian, and my husband is 41 and English. I have recently been lucky enough to overcome a very aggressive form of Hodgkins Lymphoma after intensive chemotherapy and two stem cell transplants. Unfortunately, the treatment has left me with no ovarian function. It is our greatest wish in life to start a family and our only hope is with the aid of a donor. This baby would be brought up with the most love, care and attention possible and we would be indescribably grateful to whoever would be able to give us such a wonderful gift.

We are being helped by the National Gamete Donation Trust, a registered charity recommended to us by Guys, which helps childless couples in search of egg/sperm donors. Egg donors should be not older than 35 and preferably, but not necessarily, should already be amazing mums! If you would like to help us, please get in touch. You can also contact the charity directly (email: [email protected], phone 0845 226 9193) quoting our reference number N1161. They will be happy to provide any relevant information), as too would we.

Again, there would be no words to express our gratitude and even if there is no one out there able to help us right now we'd love to hear from others in a similar situation and swap stories.

have you tried looking overseas. This place has a very good reputation (was recommended by Zita West) and can offer egg donation.
Good luck.

Many thanks blueberry69, we actually know about this place through the consultant at the Whittington before we transferred to Guy's but we have only limited savings, unfortunately. However, we'll most likely go abroad if we can't find a donor here, especially as we've been given funding for treatment by our local authority....all we need is some wonderful person to help us with some eggs...
