Anyone got experience of the Agora Clinic in Hove or of IUI?

Am thinking about booking an appointment there to talk about IUI. Anyone been?

And anyone got any thoughts/advice about IUI generally?

I've had recurrent MC testing at the clinic, but no fertility treatment. (Though may consider embarking on IVF in the next few months).

I know someone who had 2 unsuccessful rounds of IUI, and then got pregnant naturally just before she was about to start IVF.

I know someone who has had 2 children via donor eggs IVF using the clinic.

The clinic staff seem friendly and generally competent (had a billing cock up and also had to repeat some bloods as they messed up one of the samples). The boss is quite cool and professional (don't expect lots of warm empathy!) but guess that's a protection tactic. She's highly regarded, particularly for her honesty and pragmatism.

Hi Elm - I am currently in the IUI boat, we're waiting for our first session (for want of a better word).

Agora has been recommended to us as an alternative to the Esperance as we are not a million miles away from either. We are currently at the mercy of the NHS so if unsuccessful we will shop around.

I have found a wealth of information on IUI on www.fertilityfriends.co.uk and you will also find many people that are using the Agora!

If I was to be paying (hopefully not going to have to yet...) I would not be going with IUI as it only has a 5-8% success rate, but is the first base with most unexplained fertility cases or where the problem is on the male side - as they 'wash' the sperm and only send in the best swimmers.

If/when it comes to us paying, we would be pushing to go straight to ICSI as the odds are fantastic in comparison.

I think I am signed up for 3-6 sessions then have to go around the loop again to get IVF.

Thanks Slightly that's really helpful. I've just had day 2-3 bloods taken, day 21 to be taken towards the end of the month. GP also testing DH's sperm, so once we have all those results back we'll have a better idea of what we're facing.

The IUI seemed a good option after speaking to a friend who had it. Didn't realise the success rate was so low. I'll definitely have a read around.

Just picking up from this previous conversation , my husband and I have an appointment with the clinic soon and was wondering if anyone has has a successful round of IUI ? We have to pay for all our treatment as my husband has a previous child but the issue we have is his swimmers . So, unfortunately we have to foot the bill and as its very expensive for IVF I was hoping to maybe go for IUI . Of course ill do anything to have a baby but we are not in a great financial position .

Hi, don't know about the clinic but have had IUI. If you're having ovulation induction (Clomid or injectibles) with it then success rates are approaching 20%. I got pg first go with it. Sadly miscarried around 8 weeks but obviously that's not related. If you've got mild male factor then it's really worth a shot. Best of luck.
