Hi, I bought some ov tests today, when in your experience would be the best time to use them (other than the obvious 1st half of cycle!) - I finished my period yesterday so I was thinking do my first test in about a week - what do you think? I'm not taking it too seriously yet and don't want to waste too many but am intrigued to test with them. How do you all use them?

How long is your cycle usually? Most women (although not all!) ovulate between 12 and 16 days before their period starts. And the LH surge the tests detect will be a day or two before that. So I would say, if you have a 28 day cycle usually, start on day 10 of your cycle (i.e. 16 plus 2 days before you expect your next period). Adjust accordingly for longer or shorter cycles!

You are likely to need to use quite a lot of tests the first month and can narrow it down in later months.

Normally around 28 days but have had a longer and a shorter one recently (just as starting TTC after a year of dead on 28 days! grr). I'll go away and do some maths I think!

Thanks
