Why do we do it to ourselves?!

Right. I've scoured Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I've read every book and website I could lay my hands on. I'm charting to within an inch of my life. No Baby Satsuma has thus far deigned to make an appearance.

So, my question is this: is there actually any point in driving ourselves crazy with this?

When some people have got pg from swi during period, others got pg first time trying, others had happy accidents, some try for years and then it just happens with no apparent change of swi policy, some get pg easily but their body doesn't want to keep it, again for no apparent reason, some have temps that could be a diagram in a book and others look like a 4-year-old's dot to dot picture, some don't move for hours after sex, others do it twice a day, some do it twice a month.... Why do we put ourselves through the endless trying to maximise chances when the real issue is that nobody has a flipping clue what might actually work for them??!!

Phew. Rant over.

I think the issue is that we can control near enough every aspect our lives even down to hair and eye colour, but this is something that there is no rhyme or reason for.

Even though we have access technical advances that were unavailable to our mothers and would have been unthinkable to our grandmothers the act of making a baby comes down to doing something that hasn't changed since the dawn of man.

When we are young and reckless we are told that just thinking about a nude boy will make you pregnant. We all know girls who had 'accidents' at college, and woman who continue to have babies even though their children have been taken into care.

The combination of the two makes us feel that conception is something we should be able to get delivered by Ocado.
