been using ov test for a while now and got a positive 9 days ago with usual ov aches/pains & EWCM (at the time i thought it was a bit early but only by a few days) carried on testing for a few days after with no line

yesterday and today same aches/ & EWCM (today) so just out of curiosity i did another test and it was positive

one very confused TTC'er here!

You sure you are not pregnant? Ovulation tests can show a positive result both when ovulating and when pregnant (as ovulation tests detect LH which is molecularly very similar to hCG - the pregnancy hormone). Perhaps your first positive result was ovulation and your second is your first indication of pregnancy...

Hiya,

Yes you can ovulate twice in a month, thats sometimes when twins are conceived.

pinkteddy · 08/05/2011 21:03

Yes you can.

cheekycurls · 08/05/2011 21:14

Gethsemane oh i wish that is true but don't think i am!!

Izzy i know multiple egg can release at same time leading to twins or more but surely not at different times?!

also since the first positive ov test i've had serious bloating, aches & pains (sharp pains in side) but not very bad until today my belly is so swollen and tender with dull ache inside like AF feelings but the sharp pains this evening have actually took my breath away!

if i am ov again there is no way me and DP can do anything as im so sore :(

been googling and all i've found was

You cannot ovulate twice in a cycle at two different times, however
you can release more than ONE egg within a 24 hour period

but this is 9 days apart

Yes you can - I have the non identical twins to prove it!

cheekycurls · 08/05/2011 21:47

did u ovulate at different days of cycle Candleshoe?

cheekycurls · 08/05/2011 22:00

oh but another thing if i'm ovulating now surely there's not enough time for (if i get pregnant) egg to implant? AF is due in 11 days

cheekycurls, i may be wrong but i thought it was very unlikely to have a luteal phase of longer than 17 days...so if you ovulated 9 days ago and AF is due in 11 days that would make for a super long LP...Perhaps your body geared up to ovulate but didn't and now perhaps it is actually ovulating. It may worth charting your temps to check how your temps correspond with your positive opks...that's of course you don't get a bfp this month!

Newgolddream · 09/05/2011 12:07

If you are not pregnant then I think what Roberta says is probably true - your body geared up for ovulation but didnt actually so its now having another go. Remember OPKs only detect the LH surge - which triggers ovulation - even a positive test cant state if you actually ovualate or not.

cheekycurls · 09/05/2011 15:02

my LP is normally around 15-16 days

normal cycle is around 28-30 days i'm quiet regular although last months cycle went on a bit longer it was 34 days

i've never tried temps seems a bit complicated

but when i conceived DD 4 years ago i conceived her the day before AF arrived and had a normal AF that month! so i guess i'm just odd! Confused

I would nip to a&e for an ultrasound and pain meds because what you are experiencing sounds a lot like my symptoms last month, and it turned out to be a burst ovarian cyst, so I must have over-ovulated then not released all the eggs. It was a shock to me; I thought I was either having mild appendicitis or an ectopic pregnancy as the stabbing pains were unlike anything I had experienced before...

cheekycurls · 09/05/2011 23:46

the pain in my side has now gone just left with the dull ache & bloating all this TTC is so confusing!!
