hi. iam anewby to this site, but iam looking for some shared experiences on ttc after having the impalnon implant removed. iam a 30 year old healthy woman who had the implant in for approx 20mths, before that i was on a oral contraceptive since i was 16.( i met my now husband here) so many many years of contraception. ive never been pregnant. we are now starting ttc. i had the impant removed in on feb 15, had one cycle on 21st march and then another execatly 30days later on 21st april, so hopefully thats a good sign that my body is getting back to normal, iam no waiting to see if number three arrives on 21st may, iam hoping it dosent. however i have no signs of ovulation, i having been charting my bbt but have had no change in cervical mucous. i need advcie, have any others users had such a long history of contraception and then gone on to concieve quiet normally after wards.

Hiya Smile

I conceived very easily after long term oral contraceptive use - I think about 15 years before conceiving DC1 in the first month of trying.

After DC1 I was on the mini pill due to breastfeeding and then conceived DC2 very easily again.

after Dc2 I had Implanon put in, and I kept it for 6 montyhs or so. It didn't agree with me, and we'd decided to try for another baby again.

After it was removed, I was pg again within a month. The hormones leave your system very quickly once it is out, within 24 hrs I think. Sadly I miscarried that baby but within 3 months I was pg again and I'm now expecting twins!

So no, in my experience, I never had a problem conceiving after long term oral contraceptice use, or after having Implanon removed. But I am aware I was very lucky to conceive so quickly and many people take longer that that - it doesn't mean there is anything wrong though.

Best of luck Grin

I had my implant removed in January and started charting straightaway. While it appears that I am ovulating (and started to do so quickly after the removal), my luteal phase is mysteriously getting shorter and shorter (8 days this month, down from 13 four months ago...). I have an appointment with my GP on Friday to discuss it. Suspect is nothing to do with implanon though - am sure you'll be fine!
