LH surge on day 7 !

Have been TTC for a few months without success so bought a Clearblue Ovulation test. Tried it out today for the first time, day 7 of cycle and got a smiley face!!!

However, my cycles have been VERY irregular, mostly about 39 days, but have waited as many as 57 (as you can imagine I was getting excited only to be disappointed...) Is it likely/possible that I am ovulating or is my body playing tricks on me?????

Should we TTC tonight??? (I suppose theres no harm in trying!!!)

Hi Stranded I'm not an expert at this but I think it's quite normal for the phase before ovulation to vary so you could be having an LH surge on CD7 - I guess you'll only know if it's picked up ovulation in a couple of weeks time as and when AF arrives.

If she doesn't show in a couple of weeks or so (and I hope a great big BFP turns up instead), it might be worth talking to your GP to see if there's something funny going on with your LH levels.

But in the meantime, you'd best obey the stick and get romantic with Mr Stranded! Wink

Very good luck to you! Smile

PS You might also see how long the sticks pick up the surge for. I am sure some better informed ladies will be able to give you some advice on how long a surge usually lasts...

Thanks Pixie... we shall just have to wait and see I guess! If only things were a bit more straight forward! Too much to ask I know!

Told Mr Stranded... he seems up for it! Wink will have fun trying anyway!

I say sh@g away! It is quite possible to ov on day 7 (or more likely day 8 or 9 after a day 7 surge).

On a more serious note, have you been checked for PCOS? That can cause irregular and/or long cycles. The condition often means that ov tests don't work properly as LH levels can be all over the place. Sorry to p* on your fireworks, but I thought I should mention it. I hope it is just early ov!

Ov can certainly happen that early - an unexpected early ov is what got my parents a surprise 3rd baby!

I do agree with eurochick that with PCOS/long cycles LH can be high so show up on ov tests, so they don't work so well. If your ov test keeps showing up positive then this might be the case - or alternatively ov tests that keep showing positive can mean you're pregnant!!

Thanks for the advice... I did another OV test today and there was no smiley face....
