Hello ladies,

I have been hovering here for a while and have finally decided it's time to pick your brains. Same old story really. I was on the contraceptive pill for 10-11 years (Dianette due to acne), came off it a while back and had a withdrawal bleed but nothing thereafter for six months. GP then suggested I go back on the pill to 'regulate' my periods so I did that for over a year (idiot...I know). Came off it in Oct 2010, had wb and then again, nothing. Saw GP in January who prescribed norethisterone which she thought might kick-start my cycles but so far it's a no show. Not even a hint.

I am beginning to think I possibly have PCO or PCOS given the acne issue which has go so much worse since Dianette stopped. I want to know how long I should wait to see GP? How long do they expect me to wait? Should I ask for blood tests? Very Confused

I'd go to the doctor's now if I were you. The standard for going for fertility help is one year if you are under 35, but I think you should go now for simply not having a cycle.

It does sound an awful lot like PCOS (which I also have but I have hair and heavy periods rather than acne and no periods!). Have a look at the Verity PCOS website if you want to learn more. Don't be too despondent even if that is the diagnosis. Most PCOS women can get pregnant. Some just need a little help.

Thanks for your reply eurochick. I will try and go next week. I have a fairly optimistic outlook but that might change when we start properly ttc. I know from looking on here that it can take some women a long time. It's all a bit daunting tbh.

Hi Myturn I'm a newbie too. I was on the pill for 15 years and came off it 13 days ago as we're TTC. Sorry to hear you're having problems, just wanted to reiterate you should go to the doc's, I definitely would.

Good luck and hope you get some useful help.
