we literally just started TCC.Blush last night.

i have dds aged nearly 7 and 9 so this feels a bit scary as the age gap is pretty substantial.

they were both conceived in the first month of trying (V v lucky)...but have no idea how long it'll take now, as i'm 38 and probaby less fertile.

does anyone have any exp of TCC in later life, after easy conception at a younger age?

do late 30s girls always take ages to conceive??

I think its just luck really as I conceived DS3 quicker than DS2. It took me 18 months to fall pregnant with DS2 when I was only 30 and then 7 months for DS 3 when I was 37. Currently ttc again for number 4 since last August and no luck yet, Im 40 now mind you, I have htis vision of all me eggs being past it Grin

My gaps are quite big as DS1 is 18 Grin

newgolddream- hi. i'm a bit concerned that i wont cope well with a long wait and will get all obsessive about it! how do you stay relaxed, TTC over several months??

I think basically because Im trying to treat it like 2 it wil be lovely if it happens but Ive already been lucky and got 3 lovely boys" attitude if that makes sense. Its been working so far but I was a bit crushed I must admit when AF came a few days ago. Onwards to the next cycle though.

I do chart - but I dont think Im obsessive, just because I want to max the chances every month, no point in wasting a month!

Hi noonar and good luck. I conceived my first dc aged 37 - took about 9 months, but in hindsight we really weren't shagging with intent (SWI) enough! Unfortunately I had a mmc in December (aged 39) and wanted to get pg again very quickly, so used clear blue ovulation sticks and I am 11 weeks pg. I think it really varies individual to individual about how fertile you are - but enjoy all that sex!

BikeRunSki · 21/04/2011 11:29

I had DS at 37 and DC2 is due 2 weeks before my 41st birthday.
Both were conceived in 1 cycle! No charting, no intervention, just shagging.
I think it probably helped that DH and I barely drink - if we manage a whole bottle of wine in a week it's big news. A

Good luck Smile

And I know this sounds daft, but you need to shag a lot. You can get pg anytime in your cycle, not just days 14-16.

hairylights · 21/04/2011 11:51

Hi and good luck. No it doesn't have to be difficult and isn't for everyone.

hairylights · 21/04/2011 11:52

Chart your cycle it'll tell you when to shag most :)

I had dd2 after a 9 year gap. I was 37 when she was conceived. In the second cycle and we only dtd one day that cycle! Dh regrets now not making more of the shagging opportunities! Third baby after a gap is brilliant. Good luck.

Morning Noonar. My DS is 4 - 5 in sept. We have just started TTC last week Yikees! Although have just stopped my pill 4 weeks a go and no period yet. I'm 37 so worried it might not happen. Just hope my periods start and take it from there.

DS is a fab boy and life is great so trying not to get to hung up about it, but it is very early days. In my head I will give it a year and re think then.

I fell Pg straight away with DS. I know I was very lucky.

Good luck and don't worry about work/life it will work out - although not seen your other thread.
