2 faint positives, worried about work and timing

I didnt know how to word the title! sorry. We have been trying for a baby since last august and this month my period was late. Im now only four days late but I am usually as regular as clockwork, I have done 2 pregnancy tests (yesterday and today) and each one showed a faint pink line within 4 minutes. There is definitely a line there, Im not imagining it.

The problem is with the bank holiday weekend. Im due back at work on tuesday however my job is dangerous and there is no way I could do it whilst pregnant. My docs is closed for the weekend but it is important I see him so I can go into work on Tuesday and tell them Im pregnant and be moved from my current job to something safer. Are 2 faint positives enough to make an appointment with the doc. If they were open on friday and monday I would wait but Im worried. I dont want to go into work and announce Im pregnant without the backup of a docs appointment (I hate havigt o tell them so early anyway, feels like a jinx but I have nno choice). Im getting slight stomach pains but they are nothing like period pains so I dont think its that. Im a bit confused. Should I wait until I get dark lines on the test or make the appointment for today? (my docs has no routine appointments until may, its same day or nothing!!!)

As far as I know a line is a line is a line!!! Congratulations!

I would get into docs today if you can. Its better to be on the safe side and the worst that could happen is they say you're not which has to be better than announcing your pg and then having to 'unannounce' it. Good luck xxx

tbh, i think that if you can't do your job when pregnant for safety reasons, then you need to be seen.

it depends though...if its due to chemicals etc, which are dangerous, then go now, if its more a case of staying safe from risk of attack (ie policewoman etc..) then you could wait a few weeks but have a quiet word with your supervisor and ask permission to step back iykwim?

congratulations btw! Smile

If you can't do your job then go to the dr's today.

I have just rung the doctor, they are only working on same day appointments, I do feel quite bad about taking an appointment but I have to keep it right with work. Trust it to take me by surprise like this. The first month I have relaxed and not paid much attention to it. I am pleased though, thanks for the congrats :), although my due date is 25th December!!! (I know theres very little chance of that being the actual day though!!) Grin

I went to the docs! Ive given a urine sample and it will be sent off today. wont get the results till next thursday! Doc says to tell work Ive had 2 positives from HPT and am waiting for results. Just hope that the hospital test comes up positive as I have heard they are less sensitive than home ones (and I had been drinking like a fish so I might have diluted the sample Grin)

Congrats:)

Without saying too much about your job what is the risk that you will be at? Could you take a couple of days hols or sick if you are concerned about telling them before having it confirmed. Maybe do another HPT on tuesday morning with First morning Urine if this is not an option and good luck with everything x

If I were you, I'd buy a digital test. The ones which simply say "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant" and wait until Monday and then do another test with it. In theory, the lines on the cheaper tests do get darker after a few days so by Monday you will have had a good 4 days (or you could even do it first thing on Tuesday before going in to work if you are less impatient than I'd be!) using your first wee of the day.

Also, because these have a lid that goes over the bit you wee on you could actually take it in to work and show it to them. I think the digital display with the wording disappears after about 24 hours come to think of it so it would probably be worth waiting until Tuesday morning.

I only had faint line with dd as did it so early. Any line is a line I think.
Therefore you can't risk doing your job on Tuesday. I would say a sickie is due. i wouldn't normally advocate them but it makes sense here I reckon.
