Desperate to conceive

I have been desperate to conceive since my 3rd miscarriage in Dec and nothing has happened. Today I phoned my consultant to see if they could offer any assistance. They have arranged for me to go and see them at the hospital on the 16th Nov.

What will they do? Do you think they will try me on clomid (which is what I am hoping for) If so what day of my cycle would I start taking it? Do you take a pill everyday?

Hi Trix

I believe that Clomid is normally given where there is a problem with ovulation. Since you have conceived 3 times already I assume that there is no reason to think that you are not ovulating? If it is given, it is normally taken on days 2-6 of your cycle.

Have they already performed sperm analysis, blood tests, hsg? If not, I would have thought that they would begin with those, and then future action would depend upon what they throw up.

Have they managed to establish what has caused your miscarriages, so that it can hopefully be prevented when you do fall pregnant again?

I take clomid from day 2 to day 6 of my cycle. I imagine they will investigate various things before putting you on clomid as I think it is mainly for people who have difficulties with ovulation. They will probably start with blood tests to check your hormone levels. Good that you don't have to wait long to see someone though. Hope it goes well.

Very best of luck. I was in a similiar postion this time last year. Remember how heart broken I was when I bled on my birthday - 28th november - I was to start on clomid in the January - but conceived in the December and had Rachel on 18th September.Don't lose hope xxxx

Ooh, Trix1, I also have consultants appt on 16 Nov. I have had some investigations (blood tests and scan) and am hoping to find out results on 16th - why my cycle is all over the place, and whether I can get pg again (already got two ds). AF also 'due' tomorrow, so am both excited that consultant may have all the answers, and depressed that I'm still not pg....
Good luck for next week.

Must be something in the air ! I also have my first consultant's appointment on 16th Nov after ttc no. 2 for a year now.

Good luck. I am on month three of trying ttc number 2 and just about to start all the temperature taking and mucus watching. Can't say I am looking forward to so much introspection but if it has the desired result then I'll do it every hour if necessary. Hope it goes well.

Good luck both with your appts on the 16th. Does anyone know after the ovulation period what the signs are of not being pregnant or being pregnant?

Trix1, do you chart your temperatures? If so, one indication of pregnancy is if your temperatures stay high after ovulation. You might see an implantation dip, but in most cases your temps should stay high. I can usually tell when AF is on her way when my temps start dipping

Fertility Friend is a useful site

What about the mucous? If it becomes cloudy does that mean you haven't conceived? Or does it become cloudy either way....?
