Hiya,

sorry if this has been asked before but couldnt see it anywhere, basically i mc'd last week and had it confirmed today, we were trying since last august but had low hcg levels from the start so i was concerned anyway and had an inkling it would happen.

having talked things over with my bf we would like to try again as soon as possible but have a couple of questions, do your periods go back to their usual cycle (sorry if this is stupid, really dont know!) or change completely,
just thought id said goodby to ov tests and counting cycles for a while as i was getting sick of them and now im back, do i start over or just pick up where i left off is what im basically asking, thanks xx

hello :) sorry to hear about your loss. however i feel rather equiped for aswering this question today as i felt like you did two weeks ago but couldnt find any answers.

we hadnt been trying for as long as you but unfortunatly lost our little bean at the end of march at about 5/6 weeks. i would honestly recommend using OPK's then you will no when your ovulating to say your self the worrys.

so before my cycle was about 24 days - bleed for 6 then ovulate about 5 days after that so CD 11. i MC'd on the 31st march/1st april and bled super heavy for 4 days. i didnt use OPK's for the first few days as it was as if peeing on another stick made the loss seem a bit too real to start with but since then ive used them every day and have had my positive OPK today which ive counted as CD 14 using the start of my MC bleed. so it doesnt fit in perfectly but then i only bled for 4 days not six so if i had bled for the usual time it would be the same. i guess its different for everyone but really invest in some OPK's from ebay there deas cheap and i think they work perfectly

good luck :)

Mine have changed completely since my mc at 11 weeks in February. I had a period 3 weeks after the mc, and since then I've had 20ish day cycles. I think I ovulated after my first period, but I don't think I did after the second. The first 2 period were very light, this month has been horrendous, I was getting through a tampon an hour on Tuesday and Wednesday. I've been to the gp, who advised me that it can take 3 months for things to get back to a normal pattern.

As far as trying again goes I would wait until you've had a bfn because you won't ovulate until all the pg hormones are gone and if you get a bfp you want to be sure it's a new pg. I did weekly tests and got a bfn just over 2 weeks after the mc.

Good luck x

Hi, so sorry for your loss.

My experiences have been variabele (three miscarriages) but basically my cycles have gone back to normal straight away (possibly ovulated a day or so later than expected and period a day or so later/earlier) but they got back on track quickly.

I use a clear blue monitor, so I know ovulation basically kicked straight back in. and my cycles are regular so I know they were back to normal.

Periods were possibly slightly heaver after MC, but not that different.
