My treatment is due to start soon. Getting excited now!

OP posts:
lucylookout · 06/05/2011 09:05

How exciting italian, do you have a date yet? Or does it depend on your cycle? Where are you being treated?
Hope everyone else is doing OK. I'm feeling surprisingly sane still, even though I have only taken three tablets Grin

LissySilver · 06/05/2011 12:38

woowa- A hysteroscopy is a procedure where they map your innards...they use a camera to measure your uterus, ovaries, cervix, etc, so when the time comes for ET, they know exactly where to go. It's also a way for the docs to see if there are any fibroids, and in my case, to dilate my cervix.

Italian- I know what you meant about the crying :) I still say crying with joy is WAY better than crying in misery. I'm so excited for your treatment to start!

AFM, AF finally arrived yesterday. Hormones are still making me feel nutsy, but seems to be relieved a little bit. After all the hassle of getting note from GP and approval from private insurance, it may be that I will have to get my hysto at ARGC, which private won't pay for. ARGH. Have ultrasound and bloods scheduled for Wednesday at O'Dark Early, so really moving along now. There's still hope for the Wellington, but won't know until next week.

Keziah- How's your mum doing?

rowing- Did you get your flights sorted?

Hope you all have a great weekend!

I can't say the exact clinic because we are using donor eggs and they recommend being confidential about it, but it is one of the many Care clinics dotted around the country.

We don't have a date yet or even a donor yet but we should be matched in the next couple of weeks.

My AF has gone awol so I did a pregnancy test, BFN again. I can't even be bothered to do a sad face as I knew it would be negative.

Keziahhopes · 06/05/2011 20:37

Italian we are with Care also! Hope all goes really well with you.

Lissy - Mum is off oxygen. Am bit concerned as Dr said she may be home early next week, but they don't know why her breathing has been so difficult so am concerned. Hopefully tomorrow will find out more when we visit.

bucksfizz1 · 06/05/2011 22:49

Lucy, I'm due to start ivf. I haven't heard too much about wheatgrass but I have been using acupuncture for about 7 months now with very good results. It seems the only thing that works at managing the endometriosis pain every month. People say it might be psychological but I think there is more to ir. I've gone from wrenching for hours and being unable to stand up once a month to using a hot water bottle and a painkiller to manage pain. It also makes u think a little more about how you nourish ur body during your cycle. Make sure u get a good one that specialises in fertility though. Hope thus helps, going to do some wheatgrass research now....

Italian...I'm hoping for lots if follicles for you! Are u feeling ok on the drugs? Not too tired? X

Italiangreyhound · 06/05/2011 23:35

bucksfizz1 F I've not started yet, we don't start until they find us our donor. But thanks for this thought.

Wheatgrass what's all that about?

Keziah all the best and hope your mum will be better soon.

Rowing how are things going?

OP posts:
lucylookout · 07/05/2011 10:00

Hello babybarrister and good luck with your finalcycle of IVF. When was your last one?
keziah I hope you get to the bottom of your mum's breathing problems and get reassured that the hosp aren't releasing her too soon. While providing care they're also under pressure to free up beds I expect, so it's good to follow your instincts and question their decisions.
bucksfizz I've been going to acu for a while too. After the last mc I think it's helped enormously to regulate cycles that had become haywire (and moods!)
Italian I can't actually remember how wheatgrass works, I mean it's very good for you whatever but it's also very successful at reducing fsh. I don't know if it's why my reading went from 9.9 to 5.2 but I like to think so! I get it in a powder form from a whole foods near me and just mix a tsp with a little water daily.
Hi to everyone else too and wishing you all a good weekend

woowa · 07/05/2011 21:06

ok, so no, i've never had a hysteroscopy. Just ultrasounds at my hosp. They even gave us a an US picture of our embryos being squirted (?) in!! I threw it away when pg as it was a bit weird for me!

Back on track with the menopur mixing. I thought it would be second nature after having done it before but i seemed to have forgotten. This evening I forgot to push the air out of the syringe and i can say that it was MORE PAINFUL and BLED LOTS. So there is a reason for pushing that air out :)

Italiangreyhound · 07/05/2011 23:50

BB welcome back. Good to see you. So much hope this will work for you. When is your egg retrieval?

lucylookout Thanks for the wheat grass tip. Wink

woowa I had IVF with donor eggs last year. I know it sounds mad but I called my embies Emerald Jake and Laurel Daisy and I have a photo of them as tiny two-celled embies and another of them being 'squirted in'. Because they did not make it Sad I kept the photos and they are quite precious. We have an electronic photo frame (which displays the photos at about 20 second intervals) and my hubby put all our photos on the frame - so every once in a blue moon up pops the photo of the embies being squirted into me! So weird. We also had a third embie, which I grandly called Tyler Willow, that one did not continue to grow, so effectively 'died'. When I heard I cried, it seemed very sad. So in a funny way those photos of the other two are very precious because there is no photo of Tyler Willow!

woowa Just as an aside - my Rosemary Conley 'before' photos of me looking fat in a sundress are also on our electronic photo frame! So they also pop up from time to time!

Keziah all the best and hope your mum will be completely healed and back to normal soon; thinking of you. Just your judgements, so make a fuss if you are not happy with her care, you are the boss, make the doctors work!

Rowing how are things going? Are you there now?

My treatment is looking like it may start next month or the month after, later than I had hoped! But nothing we can do. It would be nice if it could all be over by August. We started trying August 2005 for number two so this August will be six years!

Hugs to all.

Hi everyone,

BB good to see you back! Fingers crossed for this cycle!

Lissy I did get the flights sorted out thank you! Hooray for AF!

For some reason I lost this thread and have spent so long trying to find it I can't read everything, but waves to everyone.

I'm feeling quite icky because of progesterone supplements, in fact, vomited on Thursday (first day of taking), but it was probably something I ate. Not fun, no!
Still trying to find a hotel which doesn't have too many rats. How many are too many? I think as long as no rats in the fridge, good!
Off now, speak again soon...

Italiangreyhound · 08/05/2011 02:08

Rowing major hugs Grin.

To clarify this photo I mentioned is a photo my insides not me on the bed!

Thanks for clarification italian, have to admit initially I was having a few problems visualising what that photo might have looked like!

Sorry to hear you're feeling yucky rowing and good luck with hotels. I think rats would definitely be an optional extra I could do without.

BB sending you lots of positive thoughts to get those follicles growing. Tell me if I'm being too nosey, but I'm quite new on here and don't know your story. Why have you had to use IVF? Hope you're feeling OK about you and your DH's decision. None of this is easy it.

Italiangreyhound · 09/05/2011 00:29

BB all best wishes to you for this to work.

Rowing hugs, as always.

Today we went to a house for lunch with some friends. The kind lady who cooked an amazing meal had also put out crafts stuff for my daughter and the two other girls. My daughter picked up a small pompom, it was covered with little glittery strands

Something like this

www.alibaba.com/product-gs/248103037/glitter_Pom_poms.html
here
My dd cut the gold strands off the a couple of pom poms and the stands flowed off in the breeze. I thought of baby dust and wish it for each one of you!

I've worked out I have an eating disorder. I went to a Christian group tonight about eating disorders and found it amazingly helpful. It is called New ID.

www.newid.info/
here

I've only been to the first one but it was really helpful.

I feel so relieved that I have actually identified some of the problems and can see the patterns of behaviour. I know not everyone who eats too much has an eating disorder but I know for me that this holds the answer; still I am at the start of the process. A long way to go but now I know I can get there! I feel very excited and energised.

All the best.

Hi all,
just popping in. Thank you for the hugs and good wishes Italian and Lucy.
BB are you getting anything to help the embie 'stick'. No blood clotting problems or anything are there?
I'm off tomorrow. Not organised at all, everyone else I am speaking to has currency organised and bags packed - not me. I'm going to the ATM when I get there. It's only two nights so I reckon a couple of pairs of trousers and I'm all set. Do you think I should take two pairs of shoes?
I'm travelling all of tomorrow and all of Thursday so only have Wednesday to walk around and have the FET of course.
What would you guys pack for that? [interested face] Smile

Italian - heard great things about New ID course, a friend of mine helps run one - duh, forgot to even suggest it before so glad you found out about it!! Hope it helps.
Rowing - if you have space take 2 pairs of shoes, one complete change of clothes, a warmer layer, suncream, book etc to read for flight. Easy to get currency from cash machine at airport if you need to. I have been to Slovakia many times (to visit a friend) and that is what I do, with a card that doesn't charge (Nationwide used to do that) if needed to. Good luck!

lucylookout · 09/05/2011 17:59

I'd take two pairs of shoes; a pair of comfy trainer/walking shoes and a pair of flip flop/ sandals. I'd wear a pair of trousers and maybe pack a pair (depends on how dark in colour the ones you're wearing are Wink ), and a couple of tops. How exciting, it feels like you're off on an adventure!
I'm going to clinic tomorrow for a scan to see if my follicles are doing what they're meant to be doing. Fingers crossed

vallinnapod · 09/05/2011 18:55

Hey ladies!

((hugs to all those I know, and don't Grin))

Well, 23 weeks here. We recently found out that bub is a boy Smile. I am hoping to relax a bit now as all scans are done. He appears healthy and is a real wriggler Smile I am still pretty small, bump-wise despite being 5 months pregnant Grin

Any way - huge luck and sticky thoughts to all those mid-cycle

x

Keziahhopes · 09/05/2011 19:17

Oh what lovely news vanilla glad all is going well.

lucylookout · 09/05/2011 22:00
