The (updated)(again)(again)(again) 'rules' from our Just Shagging Originator for the Viroids:

Maintain a relaxed attitude at all times - drink if you want too, especially on your birthday (or when you've had bad news). Thread precedent dictates if you drink to excess you will get a BFP (but not recommended). (But it does work).

Covet thy husband and enjoy every minute. Shag at every opportunity - shag-capes and awesome superpowers optional.

Keep acronym-age to a minimum! EWCM is now to be referred to as 'pant snot'. Try not to get sucked in by Fertility Friend (at least for a while), but knowing where you are in your cycle and furkling for pant snot is most definitely allowed.
OV is ovulation - I'm allowed to forget what date I've OVd, feel free to join me on that one!

Bunting is to be put out for any small victory, thread-parties are held regularly and hugs are always welcome!

Once you have your BFP, feel free to hang around and share your wisdom and virtual cocktails with the JSers.

Keep us up to date with gossip!

*

Most of these rules are well and truly broken!! But we try to chill - honest

Tough love from you crow! My cats are ridiculously spoiled. They rule our lives basically. The girl cat is very adapt at making you play chase with her - seriously! - and the boy cat makes you open a tin of tuna every time you happen to open any other tin. And not just any tuna, oh no, but pole and line caught tuna Hmm Grin.

My OH hates weeks off like that. Whenever we plan a week off, he announces a couple of weeks before "oh I'm going to go away biking for a few days that week." Still, at least that way he isn't cutting out hedges he isn't meant too Angry.

NervousNelly · 09/09/2011 17:17

to even! Blush

crowette · 09/09/2011 18:35

Our cat mainly sleeps. Occasionally she'll bat a bit of rolled up foil across the floor a few times, or even let us throw it up the hallway so we can giggle at her as she runs after it and smashes into the wall at the end because she can't stop in time, oops Blush But the constant meowing has even got to OH and he usually spoils her and lets her have anything. So yeah - tough love! I'm used to that, I was tough with my girls when they were younger, and still am now. I never get pestered for anything by them - they may ask, and I may say yes, but they know that no means no.

Spoke to OH about the decorating holiday, and he visually paled, but agreed to commit one whole day to decorating, getting as much done as possible then. It's not a large flat, fairly compact, and as long as I get the lounge and our bedroom done, I'll be happy :)

I've just agreed to do some extra shifts at work, so I can get some more money in for christmas - got to be done Sad

NervousNelly · 09/09/2011 19:44

One of ours got us up at 5am every day for 3 years, demanding to be let outside. So one of us would get up and stagger downstairs, only to stand on the freezing cold kitchen floor while she had a snack first (strange cat has always had this thing where she prefers to eat as you supervise) then . finally let her out. Not once did we succumb to chucking her out before bedtime Shock. Now, we have a cat flap, and peace reigns once again. Sort of Grin.

In true JS style I have just come in, and poured myself a huge glass of wine. That's before we order our home delivery fish supper. Healthy living here, oh yes Hmm.

NervousNelly · 09/09/2011 19:48

Oh sorry also forgot to say urgh on the extra shifts, but extra money is not to be sniffed at. Have you heard any more about the job you applied for? I didn't get the one I had an interview for a few weeks ago, but have another interview for a different job next week.

crowette · 09/09/2011 22:46

The one at OH's place of work? I didn't get it as there was only position going (unusually for them, and they usually recruit a whole training group together) apparently they liked me, but I need a little more confidence. Invited to apply again though. Or the one at my place of work? They've extended the application deadline - makes me wonder if they're not happy with who's already applied Hmm I've also got to chase my manager up to see if he did actually sign and hand in my application.

Good luck with your next interview - the previous ones are just good practice Wink

I couldn't do what you did with your cat! Letting it out each night! I get annoyed at our one scratching at my clothes hamper or rummaging around under the bed when she wants to be let out. Fortunately she doesn't do it every night, and she is cute when she realises I'm going to bed and jumps up and runs in front of me down the hallway to bedroom, looking back over her shoulder to make sure I'm still there, jumps straight up onto the bed and settles on to my dressing gown, which is always carefully placed down by my feet to make a comfy bed for her and I'll wear OH's dressing gown if she's still asleep on it when I get up. I suppose I am a softy really Blush

I've been drinking beer tonight, safe in the knowledge that ERTD is about to turn up any minute now.

NervousNelly · 09/09/2011 23:25

Haha you actually sound just as bad as us! Ours does the "oh its bedtime hope theyre following" mad dash, we think its very cuteSmile. Then OH lays his spare pillow on the floor every night with his dressing gown over the top (cat won't sleep on the bed normally). The other one however loves to sleep on the bed and if he gets there before me, I slide in quietly so as not to disturb him Grin.

Rod for our own backs, perhaps.

I meant the job at your work I think. Definitely chase your manager Shock.

chocolatemakesmehappy · 11/09/2011 10:14

Great work on the tough love for the cat crow. Sounds like Nelly's cats need some too. Except for my rats, all other pets have been strictly outside 24/7, except for fireworks nights when we would bring them in to stop them freaking out.

I miss having a pet, but do not like keeping them in an apartment. I use the downstairs cat and the down the road puppy dog as my substitutes. No food or vet bills either.Grin

Had a lovely weekend with no extra work shifts, just as well cause I've landed extra saturday and sunday work for next weekend. Went walking the jungle, no big hairy spiders to report Nelly. They wouldn't worry me too much though - I'm originally Australian - land of hairy spiders and other things creepy. Non-poisonous hairy spiders were allowed in the house, just not the bedroom. Poisonous ones squished with a broom on the spot.

If you ever need a snake killer, my mum is pretty quick with a broom/garden spade combo.Grin Just remembered my favourite pet cat died from a snake bite. Mum obviously not quick enough for that one :(

On a happier note, only one major decision left to make this weekend. Cook dinner or pop out for prata? hmmmm....prata involves less washing up, plus puppy kisses on the walk to and from. Decision made Grin

Best of luck with the job application/interviews ladies!

NervousNelly · 12/09/2011 22:14

The poisonous of the spider doesn't bother me. It's just the fact it has 8 legs. And the way they move - uuuggghhhh. Total arachnaphobe. However I am chuckling at an image of your mum standing at the door, clipboard in hand, bouncer style. "hhhmm Mr funnel web, sorry, your name's not down, your not coming in" Grin.

Pets outside though? If I could squeeze my horses inside I probably would! But the pets are my babies, so curled up on the sofa with me is where they belong :)

Oh hang on, just realised how wrong it is - spiders inside and pets outside Shock. I think you may have had a confused upbringing Wink.

About 6DPO here. Some light period-style rumblings today that no doubt mean I'm out for another month. Going to stay in denial for a bit longer :)

JosieSmith1 · 13/09/2011 08:30

Hi everyone, just a quick catch up as I'm at work. On CD 25ish (last one was a short one which means ERTD starts on a saturday again now, not Monday as it changed to) and I'm not holding out much hope for this cycle either (14th I think?). Anyway, I've pulled myself together and booked my blood test for next Monday Sad not looking forward to it but also slightly excited that, providing I can stay conscious through this one and the next one, I might get a better idea of what's going on, or what's not going on to be more precise.

Hope you are all well, I'm off work next week for 2 weeks so will try and catch up properly then

Hello to newbies by the way

OP posts:
chocolatemakesmehappy · 13/09/2011 16:19

hello Josie nice to meet you. good luck on the blood tests. I often hold the stuffed toys that are for scared kids whenever I have my bloods done. something comforting about a teddybear even though I'm in my late thirties.

Confused upbringing.... maybe.... we are upside down in Australia. Grew up in the country where all the dogs are working dogs, cats do their own thing and you'd be way too busy trying to keep all the spiders outside. You are right about the eight legs thing. snakes way better as they have no legs. :)

Start of the week flew by, did not even have time to hate Monday. day off tomorrow... yay! just as well with my bloated tummy, giving a demo on scooping abdominals in ain't going to happen. belly twice as big as normal PMT. Boobs killing me, but that's normal for this time of month. have past day of shortest cycle, three more to go to longest cycle time. have not given up hope yet as have gone off coffee for the past few days, now that's weird! red wine with dinner still went down ok Wine

NervousNelly · 15/09/2011 16:18

Hi all. Sorry for going AWOL. I haven't had time for MN, but I don't really know why Confused. Not much to report though, other than I was in a right grump on Tuesday, which was about right for my 7DPO mood swing. Bring on ERTD, I guess Angry.

It's a lovely day here, hoping to get out of the office soon to enjoy it. Hope everyone is doing fine, and doing lots of JSing!

JosieSmith1 · 15/09/2011 16:32

I'm in a right grump today Nelly, struggling with this whole shitty thing at the moment Sad Someone is leaving work on maternity leave today and we had a little do to give her a card and pressie etc and the team manager insisted on reading out a poem about how kids are a blessing and the most important thing in life Sad was very difficult not to cry infront of the entire office Sad How come some people find it so easy and 14 months on I'm still waiting and hoping. I've been on this blood website for ages and I'm sick (no offences girls, you know what I mean) and I'm fed up of people thinking it's perfectly reasonable to ask if I want to have kids, mind your own bloody business Angry and of course these feelings are very strong symptoms of PMT seeing as EDRT is due Saturday, so that's cycle 14 down the drain SadAngry

OP posts:
chocolatemakesmehappy · 16/09/2011 07:29

tired, bloated, grumpy... me too :(
cycle 11, add the miscarriage in there somewhere. one or two days to go and I'm on my longest cycle ever. hate the wait. Angry if it reaches cycle 12 I'm off to the doc with hubby for some tests. neither hubby or I have the patience...or time. him 41 me 37.
Just got shouted a lovely three course lunch which initially cheered me up, but now added to bloat. time for a siesta.

Josie you obviously have the patience of a saint so internal fuming at co-workers allowed. maybe next time someone asks if you want kids, reply "actually I would really love to have a purple giraffe. " keep a straight face.

nelly I hope you got out and about in the good weather... riding perhaps? hopefully blew the angry and sad faces away.

Off hiking for the weekend. Praying for no thunderstorms. Have a great weekend all!

JosieSmith1 · 16/09/2011 08:18

Chocolate we've just started getting tests done but in my first blood test I passed out and it's taken me 2 months to pluck up the courage to go again, I'm off there on monday, at least if I can stay conscious this time we might start getting some answers. Hiking sounds fab, just the right thing to keep your mind occupied and not ticking over constantly. I laughed just reading purple giraffe so the chances of saying it and keeping a straight face aren't high Smile I usually say I'd rather have a foal (I have a horse) and that seems to shut people up thankfully

Had a big heart to heart with DH last night - we've been arguing loads recently, to the point where we've had to sit down and discuss whether we wanted to go on with the marriage, we're so busy we seem to be living separate lives and not even noticing the other is there, so we decided we do want to try and save our marriage so the arguing has got to stop, and the sex needs to start! He says he doesn't feel like it (which makes me feel so attractive, my own DH doesn't want to have sex with me!) and doesn't want to plan it, so I told him we don't need to plan, we just need to actually do it! And sex is a small price to pay for what we're trying to achieve, and for not being heartbroken every month and upset every day when other people are discussing their children Sad

Anyway, sorry for that mammoth post! Hope everyone is ok, and hope I haven't brought the thread down (seems to be my thing) Smile

LucyRaggyDoll · 16/09/2011 09:37

Hey all - this is Miffles under a different guise!

Nelly, Josie and crow - sorry you are still here, and going through the heartache. So rotten! But we are not alone....

Nelly - well done for keeping to the JSing spirit. Although I've been lurking, I haven't fully kept up, so please forgive me if you have already said this. But what was the outcome of your doc appts? I assume your DH JIAJ eventually! What is happening next?

Josie - TTC is one of the hardest things in a marriage - especially when it doesn't go according to plan. I thought my DH and I had the communication thing sussed. Until TTC! You did the right thing in sitting down and talking. I really hope things improve for you. Are you and your DH able to get some time away together - just the 2 of you? Away from your normal lives and concentrate on each other?

Hey to chocolate - love your name! I was here....oo....12 - 15 months ago! Then disappeared as my Dsis spotted me and was following my posts. But also, after month and month of it not working, I tended to lurk. :)

So, from me - we have our first appointment at the IVF clinic next month. Am currently on month 10 of clomid - err...day 28 or somefink of 33-35 day cycles. Have no expectation of it working, so looking forward to IVF starting(right now I feel positive anyway - prob will feel different in an hour!). Talk about emotional rollercoaster! Spoke honestly to DH last night. He admitted that he doesn't talk about it as he doesn't want to dwell on the fact we have to do it. To hear him say he finds it tough and think it's all crap strangely helped me :)

Waves to you, thank you for remembering me Nelly xx

JosieSmith1 · 16/09/2011 21:57

Hi LucyRaggyDoll good to hear from you. I understand what you say about hearing DH say it's hard making you feel better, it's as if they're acknowledging that you're not going through it alone as sometimes it feels like it affects you but not them. Fingers crossed for IVF. We can't get away any time but have decided to try and have conversations, and be nice to each other instead of arguing, and enjoying our spare time instead of always rushing around

ERTD is due tomorrow, pretty sure I can feel it coming on Sad

OP posts:
NervousNelly · 16/09/2011 22:40

Evening viroids. A special hello to raggy :) Lovely to hear from you. I'm sorry you are still waiting, as are we all, but fingers crossed that IVF works for you. Keep in touch and let us know when you get your BFP! Oh and to answer your question yes OH finally JIAJ and apparently his results were "normal" but he has to do another one and hasn't got around to it yet. He has no sense of urgency about this at all.

Sorry you are having trouble with your OH Josie - I think even without TTC, sometimes life gets in the way and we forget to work on our relationships. It's good that you have had a proper conversation and are moving forward again. But sorry about the imminent arrival of ERTD :(.

We JS'd last night, which was lovely, but was rather Angry and :( to get up this morning and discover early signs of ERTD. Normally I get a few days of spotting, but it starts out really light. This month, though not yet full flow, it's much heavier than my normal spotting, and too early. I'm only on CD23. FFS I've had enough of this rubbish now. Hmm.

Hope your are enjoying your hiking chocolate. We are forecast yet another wet crappy weekend, so got a list of very dull chores to do tomorrow. Oh joy.

I think this post sounds rather maudlin so perhaps I should go to bed and get some sleep :)

JosieSmith1 · 17/09/2011 10:18

I feel how you appear to be feeling Nelly Sad Even being off work for 2 weeks hasn't cheered me up as ERTD arrived today and I have lost the will to live Sad

I'm going to make cakes to cheer myself up

OP posts:
NervousNelly · 17/09/2011 11:30

Shock. I hope you only mean figuratively, Josie! cakes sounds like a great way forward though - pop some in the post to me Grin.

Right better get outside and back to my choresHmm

chocolatemakesmehappy · 18/09/2011 15:00

Jeez, we're all such a fun bunch at the moment, glass of wine poured for all to cheer us up. Wine Never mess with women at this stage of the cycle.
Hello Raggy, nice to meet you. Best of luck with the IVF, watch out for triplets or more! Good to know your hubby could have a chat about his feelings. Hoping to get a bit of that out of hubby this week.

Huge hug and another glass of wine (to wash down all the cake) your way Josie.

Nelly glad OH test results were all good, kick him up the arse to get the next one done!Wink

Crow are you still there or hiding under a duvet with cycle due depression and a hot water bottle? Or hiding under the duvet with your OH? Come out and have a glass of wine or pint of beer.

I'm two days late, but spotting :( Since the D&C my cycle has always had a pathetic start each month.
Hubby has to go to thailand to check out some kayaking locations for work, so I've taken a few days off to go as well. Got a flight for $25 on air asia! bargain! Nothing like a bit of sea kayaking to lift out of menstural bloating depression. Hoping to have some quiet time bobbing along in the boats to chat about "what next?" Hopefully the calm environment will able us to make some calm decisions. see you all soon.

JosieSmith1 · 18/09/2011 17:04

I just wrote a big thread, then lost it Angry My original thread said:

Chocolate that sounds amazing!

Cake didn't go to plan. I ended up making four carrot cakes for the bin (soggy in the middle Shock) so finally late last night I found a recipe that worked although me and DH don't really eat carrot cake so it has just gone off to my official carrot cake taster`Grin and I will hopefully have her verdict soon. It looked nice to me Grin Someone where DH works is leaving on sat so he asked me to make a cake for her leaving party and because I said I'd make them one ages ago, and her fave is carrot, hence the trial of carrot cake. During my next 2 weeks off work I am going to attempt a novelty cake, i.e. wallace and gromit or something similar, so that if anyone asks for smoething like that I can confidently say yes and I'll know for definite if I can do it

My spirits have been lifted as I took my horse to a show today and she won her class. We won the same class at our own yard show, but to win it at someone else's was brilliant, and I'm ashamed to admit I almost cried when they said she had won Blush She looks absolutely amazing and it was so nice to have people recognise it Smile

OP posts:
JosieSmith1 · 18/09/2011 17:05

By the way, I just thought, if anyone wants to see my cakes, pm me and I can send you my facebook link and you can have a look

OP posts:
NervousNelly · 19/09/2011 09:22

Oh Josie great news about your horse, no wonder you are Grin. They can really lift your spirits can't they. Mine has been a bit naughty recently but went out for a hack with a friend yesterday and had a great canter, with lots of yee ha bucks Grin. It really cheered me up!

I have weird spotting. On Friday I thought I was getting full on ERTD. However have had nothing since, but am only on CD26. So who knows what is going on Confused.

No doubt now I've typed that, ERTD will turn up in all her glory. I'd like it to stay off for a few days if possible, as I go on holiday 2 weeks tomorrow, so would prefer if OV is while we are away.

NervousNelly · 19/09/2011 09:29

Oh chocolate totally forgot to mention Thailand! I'm so Envy! We were in Thailand about 2 years ago, my OH was keen to go kayaking but we never got round to it. We were on the Andaman side. Have a great time Smile.

Josie I'm on phone so not sure if I can send a pm but I'd love to see your cakes. I love carrot cake - or more specifically the cream cheese icing Blush
