agnus castus advice

Hi all, we are ttc no. 4 since feb. I stopped breast feeding dc3 about 6 months ago, I lost a lot of weight when breast feeding and its taken a while for my body to get back on track and for my cycles to get regular. Now they are around 35 days with ov around day 22. I think ov this late has issues with egg and womb lining a bit old for a decent conception by then so last month I took agnus castus and dong quai 3 times a day as it states on the bottle. I had every symptom of ov at days 15 and 16, ewcm, pain on one side, positive opk. Then I had the same at day 22 and aff arrived 14 days later which suggests I ov on day 22 again. Does it take a while for agnus to work and does it sound like it almost worked last month in bringing on ov a bit earlier but may need a coucouple of months to really work with my body? Thanks for any advice x

Hi RFCMummy, I found it took Agnus Castus two cycles to help make ov regular.

Hope it works for you soon Smile

Hi, no, sadly not but we think there are a few issues going on with us as a couple so we're just about to start IVF.

It did kick start regular ovulation though - my cycles were between 34 and 60 days long (the 60 day one was not fun at all - I thought I was going to go mad!).

With Agnus Castus, this went to 31 / 32 days with definite ovulation around CD 14-16 ie early enough for the egg and uterine lining to be viable (it just seems that my DH's swimmers and my eggs don't seem to like socialising together).

FWIW I have also tried clomid and I much prefer Agnus - fewer side effects, more energy, more reliable ovulation and no libido issues Blush

I also found that committing to regular exercise helped, although it is, of course, a bit of a pain!

Smile
