ovulate on day 23 of 28 day cycle??

hello - some advice, suggestions please :)

My cycle is ALWAYS 28 days long - been ttc since Jan, but decided to stop trying this last month and the next to avoid having a baby close to Christmas. So this last month we used protection, except on days 7 and 23 of my cycle, but now i'm 4 days late (never late!!), but have been getting little bits of brown when i wipe (not so much now, and darker now). got a neg hpt when i was 2 days late so quite confused :/ Few days before AF was due got REALLY sore nipples like never before (didn't think anything of it at the time), but otherwise have felt completely normal.

Obviously would be over the moon if i am preg :), but don't know what to think at the moment - i know i should just wait and see - but hoping someone will have had similar experience or something :)

Hi Saffa.
Other than pregnancy, there are loads of reasons for a period to be late, stress being the main one. Having said that, there is still chance you are. When you tested did you use the first urine of the day, as this is a more concentrated sample, and is more likely to give an accurate result? It may also be too early to detect. i suggest you wait a couple of days, and if still no AF, test again.

Have you been tracking your ovulation? do you know when you ovulated?

According to the scan I had when I was pg with my dd I caught on day 8 of my cycle, and given that sperm can survive a few days it's possible that it was the time you dtd on day 7 rather than 23....good luck!

thanks guys, oops - i didn't test first thing in the morning.. will wait a few days then buy another test.. I actually meant day 6 of my cycle - which i originally thought would be the culprit date :) but that is pretty early. This last cycle has been the first time i tracked my BBT and there was a dip in temp (day16,17), EW cm and then an increase in temp from day 18.. so assumed i had ovulated then - but then on days 22 and 23 another dip - which i was a bit curious about cos i was sure it was supposed to stay high for a bit longer - could i have ovulated twice? I had a chemical pregnancy first month of TTC and heard that for next 3 months i would be extra fertile, but not exactly sure what that entails - maybe extra ovulations? :) haha ok so you probably think i'm mad and wasting your time - really sorry, just really perplexed!

I conceived my ds on day 24 of a 28 day cycle. Only worked this out when I went for an early scan thinking I was 6.5 weeks pg and it turned out I was actually 9 weeks pg! So it's definitely possible... Smile

(oh and af actually came and went as usual...hence my belief that I was 6.5 weeks and no more!)

My cycle is around 33 days as partner was away this month on business came back on day 21 of cycle and did ovulation test then just to be sure, it came up positive and we tried that night, is it possible to get pregnant, its been 5 days since ovulation and I still have another 7 days to go, do you think its possible???

We've been trying for a few months now

hi all - my af showed up this morning! :) 5 days late, and this has defo been one crazy cycle.. thanks for all your comments - i think since i had my chemical pregnancy (after 1st month ttc) i have been over-analysing everything..

i have heard you can still bleed in early weeks of pregnancy (decidual bleeding i think?) so like what happened to you Izzy - only time will tell i suppose, but i never actually felt preg this time round...
and shobbs guess it is possible - will be holding thumbs for you - we have been ttc our first since Jan so early days (months) yet.
was thinking i must be really silly to stop ttc these couple of months purely to avoid a xmas baby when it could be months before we actually conceive, so will be SWI from now on :)

hi shobbs - wasn't ttc this last cycle as wanted to avoid having a baby close to xmas/ early in th new year - mainly for future financial reasons and cos most people i know really dislike having their bdays so close to xmas.. anyway AF is 'aunt flo' - basically short for your period - have a look at the acronyms tab at the top of the page - took me a while to figure out the forum lingo here :) x

lol thank you, i have a 4yr old wgo was due 7th january but born 21st december i find its ok, (especially with all the christmas sales for toys etc) i just tend to split xmas and birthday presents but still being young he doesnt really understand maybe when hes older it will be a problem, thinking about it now if i do concieve this month ill have 2 the same week in xmas, eeeeekkkk x

Hi I really hope some one can help me I ovulate day 23 of a 28 day cycle this is do scary as I no its really bad, could some one give me some advice x
