I've read on here that the digital ones aren't that great at picking up hormone levels early on, so which one should I buy if I want to find out a little early - and no, I can't wait, too bloody impatient Grin.

Personally I'd wait, think id feel crap if i got a line then a period.

OracleInaCoracle · 04/04/2011 10:55

please wait. they claim to tell you 6d early, but thats from missed period so missed period is (typically) 15dpo. so actually 10dpo. and it takes the egg up to a week/10d to implant so by testing at 10dpo the egg may only just be implanting. the majority of women will only get an accurate HPT at 14dpo, plus factor in the amount of women who get a bfp then their period starts... its not worth it. testin g early wont make you any more or less up the pole and is no indicator of the viability of any pregnancy.

wait.

Ebay cheapies if you absolutely insist on early testing. These are just fine, cheap and will pick up hcg early.

But you must be prepared for everything early testing brings. Chemical pregnancies for example are quite common.

I wouldn't feel crap if I got my period. I already have two, DS was born only six months ago! They were both planned and this one wasn't (if indeed pg) The thought of having another baby is terrifying, but weirdly exciting - just want to know.

lissie, I utterly agree with you and would have said what you did. But the op doesn't sound ready to let go of the early testing and you really do have to be resolved not to.

lissie is right. As always. Grin

I ment the chemical pregnancy thing, but yeah what everyone else that can form a sentence said :)

carat · 04/04/2011 11:04

Thanks everyone - I shall take your advice and wait. I can't change the result, but EVERY little thing that feels different, makes me think I'm pg. I'm prob exaggerating, but now I just can't stop thinking about it.

showy Grin

carat. you dont know how you would feel. nothing can prepare you for seeing a bfp, realising that you are pg. there is something growing inside you. you want to tell everyone. you start wondering about hair colour, boy or girl... then you start bleeding and the thing that was growing inside you for even a few days is gone. already having children doesnt change that sense of loss.

Im sorry if I sound harsh, but been there far too many times now. get past the day your period is due (which is a milestone, baby/hormones - if there is one - is strong enough to withstand your cycle) then test.

Forgot to say goodluck and hope you get the result you want :)
