Question about cycle length and Clomid

Hello Ladies

I'm taking my first cycle of Clomid at 100 mg (2 cycles at 50 mg and no joy so far). Now, the first two cycles were about the same length as normal but I now have THE FEAR that it's going to contract my cycle and make me ovulate early. I'm now on CD 10 and the DH has gone away for the rest of the week........we're going to try hard for a midweek meet up somewhere (classy eh??) and if my cycle does it's normal (ov day 15/16/17 of a 30/31 or so day cycle) or extends a bit we should be fine.....indeed of we manage to get together mid week I'd say we're probably ok...... Anyway, sitting here navel gazing to an epic extent and wondered if anyone had any experience of it altering cycle length?

Would love to hear from you!

Hi JR didn't want you to go unanswered but can only offer you my experience of clomid.

I started taking clomid last year, 50mg to begin with, it didn't work and didn't result in a regular cycle, 23 day and then 37 day cycle. I then moved on to 100mg which did work, and settled me to 27-29 day cycles and I did get a bfp on my 3rd cycle but unfortunately had an mmc at xmas.

Are you being monitored on the clomid, so you know that it is making you ovulate? I found that on the 100mg cycles my body still didn't behave in the same way and the month where I fell pg it took a week longer for my follicles to develop, so ovulated a week later, cd 18!

How are you finding the clomid? Hopefully not too bad Smile

Have you arranged your mid week meet, could be quite exciting Wink - the things we do whilst ttc!

Hi Skitoo, thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear about your mmc, fingers crossed for better luck soon. I'm not being monitored at all on Clomid so I'm a little worried! Part of our problem is that we're apart so much and then when we're together it is quite a lot of pressure. The DH is about to go away for four months too so this is the last chance before he goes (no pressure then....) I do however have quite regular cycles, my temp goes up like clockwork every month and the CM seems to be doing what it should, although less so on Clomid. I'm also getting older, nearly 37 and we have some issues with the swimmers, masses of them but by no means an ideal number of these swimming in a nice strong straight line with their heads on straight. However, I did query with the consultant and he said to keep going for the three months when we are both in the right place at the right time as he's definately seen it happen on far worse counts. So....... fingers crossed!
